I am finding it difficult to go where there may be some replies to my post. AARP is a good site but navigation thru the forums is hard. Doesn't help my 77 years. Anybody have any thoughts? would appreciate.

I’m 40. I live in Phoenix with my 7-year-old son. We’re fine — he’s thriving, I work full-time, we eat dinner together, laugh at cartoons, and I even managed to save a little for his college fund. But lately… I’ve been staring at my 401(k) statement like it’s a mirror. And what I see isn’t numbers. It’s loneliness. I got divorced three years ago. No drama, no courtroom battles — just quiet paperwork and a bank account that felt like an empty suitcase. He took the house, the stocks, the “future.” I kept the kid, the credit card debt, and the nightly tuck-ins. Now I’m thinking about retirement — not because I want to stop working, but because I’m terrified of what happens after. Who’s going to be there when I’m 65? Who’s going to ask if I ate today? Who’s going to notice if I don’t answer the phone? My son will be grown. He’ll have his own life. His own family. And I’ll be… here. In this same house. With the same routines. Maybe a dog. Maybe a garden. Maybe silence.&n

Just wanted to say hello. Not sure how to navigate yet but will figure it out. Just looking for a place to communicate with like minded seniors, 77. Have all the usual senior concerns. Hi, I have moved to IL earlier this year. I'm closer to my family, but I'm starting over looking for new friendships and local connections. I had no idea this forum exists. Hi, 👋 came to this forum hoping to meet other senior parents caring for adult children with autism. Also hoping to get recommendations from the community on home phones and daily check-in apps. I don’t want to have to drop everything to talk to a human so I prefer a daily check-in app that just lets me push a button. Also I need maximum flexibility because I’m busy caring for my son around the clock and don’t have a lot of time or energy for this. I’m basically doing this to pacify family, and the last thing I need is them getting alerts that freak them out. Also I need a home phone that is desk phone style (no cellphones) that have programmable buttons for speed dial so  can train my son to call his sister or nephew  if something were to happen to me. But I still need some of the features cellphones offer like recording voicemail messages, converting them to text, and storing them in the cloud or somewhere retrievable. I also need to be able to record entire audio

     I am a 58 year old Woman who feels like I have spent my entire life trying to make everyone else happy and cared for.      I am a Singer, Songwriter, and Recording Artist. I sang all kinds of genre, with different groups. I performed mostly Country, and Jazz with bands; traveling from New York to Nashville during the late 1980's into the 1990's.      I started a family in 1992, and continued to write music, and record. I started my own Publishing Company. I also wrote a couple childrens books while raising my four children.      I must say, that I enjoy Recording songs that I write the most. I love the excitement of collaboration and creativity with musicians and producers.      After all these years, I feel that I am better than ever, and truly love myself for exactly who I am..., flaws and all! I am looking forward to what the future brings.

👋Hi everyone! I'm Jamie, and I live in Indiana with my amazing hubby, our 2 beautiful daughters, and our 5 ornery kitty cat fur-babies. I've been pretty active on AARP, primarily AARP Rewards for several years now, but somehow I guess I never realized this community was here!I am extremely passionate about all things mental health awareness, caring, compassion, advocacy and kindness. I've had some health issues that have kept me on the couch for a few years now, so I've tried to make the most of that time and have done A LOT OF RESEARCH on a lot of different things...especially ways to earn extra money, easily, from home by participating in different rewards programs (like AARP Rewards), couponing, etc. It keeps me busy, and I have learned SO MUCH!! My hubby loves the way I'm able to save our family so much money and bring in a little extra on the side as well! 😃 It makes me feel like I'm doing something important, like I am helping provide for our family, instead of just sittin

If you expect change in what is happening in your communities, state and country, don't rest upon your laurels. Become active in your local politics, political party and engage with your elected officials..

I have sent the following to each of my congressional delegation:Senator Lankford; Last, I recall, I sent you an email regarding the Social Security Trust Fund. I have yet to hear from you regarding my inquiry. Again, I am asking that Congress (both house and senate) repay funds that have been "borrowed" (stolen) to make the trust fund solvent. Also, I request that you author legislation to put a lock box on the SSTF to keep congress from using it to make up shortfalls in the budget. Social Security funds are not for congress to "tap" into to fund government. It is money that we senior citizens paid into from our paychecks all our working lives. It is not an entitlement, to be taken away from those of us that have earned it. Respectfully: Darrell Gilbert

Back in 2013, my eldest, a daughter, chose to not have any contact with me. I never understood why until lately. I will not go into details. I have attempted to reconnect with her over the years, but have been rebuffed. Have any of you had similar family situations? She will be 49 this December and I will be 76 in February. Given my age, there is not much time left to reconcile. Is there any Hope? I certainly don't think so.

I served in the legislature for 12 years and term limited out in 2008.
