Useless and misleading articles

I wish AARP publishes articles that are worth reading that will add value to the reader. 99% of the articles are useless and misleading. Like the "7 Home Items Worth the Splurge " article. It talks about energy efficient appliances. First of all, any new appliance you buy are energy efficient, you cannot find inefficient appliance anymore. And then it is advising readers to replace a refrigerator to an energy efficient one to save $220 over 12 years, that is about $19 a year, how stupid is this? You are going to spend $2000 to save $19 a year, where is the ROI? Just wait for the appliance to die, instead of spending money fixing it especially the cost of repairs are high, then you just replace with an energy efficient one. This is common sense and does not need an article. All AARP members are seniors that have lived through these events in their lifetime, don't need such articles.  

 

All articles are like this, make no sense. Stop with this BS and write something useful.

      Having a writer in the family, watching them do research, watching how their articles are edited and published does highlight how poor the article writing, editing, and selection is at AARP, @vo3496 .

       

      They had an article, not too long ago, on savings at various grocery chains as relates to seniors. They left out a HUGE chain, Publix. As Publix's home is Florida and Publix's territory covers many states with hundreds of stores and thousands of employees, it was a HUGE ERROR on AARP'S part to leave them out of the article. I even sent a message to AARP about the omission...... but, guess what? They re-ran the article again a couple of months later, omitting Publix again!!!!

       

      The written word is under attack. I quit subscribing to our local newspaper because I was tired of all the misspellings, wrong word usage, inappropriate headlining, and other missteps that would make my journalism teacher "roll over in her grave".

       

      Now, due to technology, people can't spell, people can't add, people can't make change, etc.etc.etc.
