Question

How do I redeem Amazon gift card using my points without entering any sweepstakes?

Hello,

I’m quite new to using the AARP site. While exploring the site, a message popped up asking if I want to redeem my points, and it listed 2 options: 1. redeem 75 points for $25 Walmart gift card, or 2. redeem 75 points for $25 Amazon gift card. I had closed that message as I was exploring the site further, but now I cannot find that option in the redeem rewards section. I do not want to enter any sweepstakes or gamble for a chance to win a gift card, I just would like to know how I can redeem a gift card using my points and would there be a limit to how many cards I can redeem. Thanks.

Hi @CamD391227

Welcome to AARP Rewards! I can understand the confusion, especially if you're new to the site and saw an offer that disappeared before you had a chance to redeem it.

The offer you saw may have been a limited-time promotion, a featured reward, or an item that was no longer available by the time you returned to the redemption page. Reward availability can change based on inventory and redemption limits.

To learn more about redeeming your points and viewing available rewards, please review the following guide:

This article explains how to redeem points and where to find available rewards. You may also find it helpful to browse the Redeem section regularly, as gift card offers can change over time.

If you're unable to locate a specific reward you previously saw, or if you have questions about redemption limits, please contact AARP Member Services for additional assistance:

If you got that offer, you should have jumped on it right then. Normally, just to get a $5 gift card it takes anywhere from 15,000 to 25,000 points depending on the retailer! Right now they’re sold out of the $5 Amazon gift cards and have been for a couple of weeks. I was using points for sweepstakes but after trying and trying and getting nothing, I think I’m going to start buying gift cards instead.

@TheresaB839306 , there was an Amazon $5 points only yesterday (Wednesday 10/14/26). They do go fast, so maybe you missed it. The Merkle AI should be posting more soon. You have to keep checking when you can. Good luck Everyone 👍

Hey Cam @CamD391227 , we are here IF you have any OTHER questions. I luv the "support" I received from the Old Timers when I joined the AARP Rewards Program May 2025.

Take care,

I got the same thing my first day on the site.  Of course they had blocked my account so I could earn but not redeem.  I screen shot it and sent it to them asking how am I supposed to be able to participate in this if you don’t let me use my points.  Of course by the time they got around to answering my question I could not get anything.  and it took several weeks before my account was finally allowed to redeem anything.  And the offer you mention was no where to be found.  Hopefully you can participate in other offers

I think these show up for new members.  But they are not to actually get gift cards, they are just special Instant Wins that are offered to new members, so these would be a “gamble” just like the other Instant Wins.  But they are for a higher amount ($25) than the regular Instant Wins ($10), so might be worth the points to try to win.  You can try to search on the rewards site by typing in Walmart or Amazon into the search bar under the Redeem Rewards/All Rewards page and see if they show up for you.  Or you can try logging out and back in, to see if they show up again.

Regarding using your points to get gift cards, you can filter on “For Points” on the rewards page, and see what gift cards are available and how many points are needed to get them.  For each gift card tile that shows up, you can only redeem it one time.  And you can only redeem 3 gift cards using points per month.  If you try to redeem something that you have already redeemed or try to redeem more than 3, you will get a message saying why you can’t do it.

@CamD391227 , as of NOW - there is only 1 Amazon coming up when I did a SEARCH on the AARP Rewards Site.

Don’t I know it… I’ve been waiting for a straggling Amazon to pop up.  Missed the others.

@SereneSeagull , if the Merkle AI stays on route, we should have MORE soon. 🤞 It has been VERY GENEROUS of late.

@CamD391227 sounds like you are CLICKING on the cards you have to PURCHASE. Make sure you are clicking on the POINTS ONLY ones. Do you know how to find them? And we are allowed 3 "points only" redemptions. I have NEVER purchased any, so have NO idea if there is a limit for those too.

I’ve never seen that as Amazon cards for points when it’s available goes for 28,000 points.  Maybe someone else is familiar with that message you’ve got.  Sounds like it’s a hoax pop up maybe?

And they’ve been sold out of it for at least 2 weeks (thought I’d use it to pay for a Prime rental movie).
