Outspell Unfair Scoring

While I second the motion, it’s a futile task in most gaming platforms as cheating evolves as the codes can be easily broken without constant and secure vigilance to keep it at bay.  The platforms such as this, that host gaming companies, need to update, patch their systems constantly, upgrade their servers, and have dedicated monitoring be it human or AI to tackle ongoing exploits.

    I don’t think other than user reporting, which from what I’ve seen here, has been ongoing, nothing else will happen.  Outside of this place, there are countless cheating sites that can help people fill in puzzles.  Those same people can come back here and plug stuff in.  Other than users identifying cheating to mods, without proper updates, patches, server changes, and dedicated IT staff which I hope they have, this is basically futile. I totally get your frustration, but don’t think it will be addressed as it might be out of their control to handle it properly.

The responses back to us that ive seen from a mod are the games are for enjoyment, relaxation, etc…. With that, user reporting sounds to me as the only means available that might happen. Good topic. 👍

Agree, something is fishy. My highest score, FWIW, was 1000.

No one's mentioned an obvious explanation for Outspell scores over 5000. Some players, myself included, put in the time and effort to learn how to strategize and maximize our points. These are the players consistently seen at the top of the leaderboard. Please don't make the mistake of assuming that success must be the result of cheating - that's an awfully gloomy outlook on life. Good luck to all Outspell fans!

I agree there is something fishy going on with the 5000+ scores. My strategy to get scores in the 3000s is to use the Free Swap and Wild Card on almost every turn. I then attempt to build as many 13 letter words as possible along the triple word tiles. But the computer opponent often blocks me in the process.  I’m not condoning my strategy; I was just trying to figure out these high scores on the leader board. I understand how to get scores in the 1000s, 2000s, 3000s, and even 4000s if exceptionally lucky. But I could not get close to 5000 and above. My conclusion, right or wrong, is that somehow players consistently getting scores above 5000 are not being blocked by a computer opponent. I somewhat tested my theory by playing AARP’s “Practice Play” game. I easily scored over 5000 (using Free Swap and Wild Card) because the practice game had no computer opponent. So, that’s my theory. If it’s correct, it’d be nice if AARP could get it fixed.
