Anyone else frustrated by the ads when playing games?  Some are so long, sometimes they just freeze and you can’t get past them.  I think the bugs surrounding the ads on games should be addressed.  It’s just frustrating.

    Hi, tinhats!

Many of us use AdBlockPlus and works like a charm (search from Community start page "AdBlock"). Not sure if that works for everyone or members, but worth a try.

Never had any problem with it (6+ years using), so perhaps that'll help end the frustration?

Asolutely.  We are dues paying members of AARP and should not have to watch ads if we don't want to.  Today was an 18 minute on the crossword puzzle.  We are old and don't have that much time to watch ads that do not pertain to us!!!!!

Hadn’t seen an ad that long. Most gaming platforms do have ads, some can be several within a given interruption of a game.   But the ads do help to keep all of this running.  Although a member myself, non members can play many of the games as well.

With an ad that long that you’ve encountered that would be annoying for sure.  Some do use ad blockers.  I get up walk around

d, read the newspaper, have a different tab open on my device, and do something there.

    Ready to just give up.

HATE these ads!!  We pay to belong to AARP so why do I have to watch the same ads over and over just to play my games??!!!!  Resentful.

Actually it’s a public website and there are non paying members here as well.  Ad revenue.  If you don’t want ads, get an ad blocker, like many here use, or use the app on a tablet like I do which helps tremendously.  Other suggestions have been made to Corporate about allowing us paid members to bypass the ads, but again… it comes down to ad revenue to help pay for all of this.

Take a look at AARP job postings that has partnered with Indeed here. Up at the site AARP subject heading you’ll See the place about jobs.  There’s a Searchable database that Indeed runs, that AARP has available to us through that link..  Search for jobs that AARP has openings for currently in the keyword box and look there at all of the openings AARP has, and the attached salaries offered.  So that answers why Ad revenue needed for this site.
