These are just some of the millions of older adults affected by the disruptions to federal food aid because of the ongoing government shutdown. In November, it became the longest in history.

IAs much as I believe AARP tries to advocate for those of us over 50, they are failing on one big count - letting their member know exactly how their Congressional representatives are voting on issues that are critical for seniors. They don't have to be political, just factual. On the website and social media sites, there should be a section that lists legislation and who voted yay or nay on each relevant issue. A short descriptive of the Bill followed by a data base of who voted for it. AARP says "Congress" but we should all know exactly who is voting for what.

I urge anyone who wants to know how their officials voted in this session or past to go to https://www.congress.gov/roll-call-votes

This will not only give you the bills both the House and Senate voted on, but gives a description of the bills, who sponsored it, as well as who voted yay or nay. It can be filtered by party, state, if the bill passed,etc.

Think that is the one I have. What surprised me is how many judges are voted on each week.

Of course, it is real easy to know how they voted in today world. If your congress is Rep. he voted for any bill that was sponsored by a Republican. On the other side he voted against any bill sponsored by a Dem.
