I was born in Texas, lived there (with a year out in Florida & one in Ohio) until I was 15, then moved to California, where I went to high school and started work in the title insurance world after working in grocery stores from 14 to 18. Drafted at age 23, spent most of my two years at Fort Ord after MP school in Georgia. I eventually went to college, majored in English Lit and started writing poetry, still do that today. Moved to Oregon many years ago and would not want to live anywhere else. I worked in the title business for what seems like a lifetime and am enjoying retirement here in Oregon with my wife. I read a lot, like jazz and oldies, good movies and watch a lot of English & Aussie crime shows.

Hi, first time I’ve done this.  Just seems like I have no one to just be able to talk with.  I know there’s others that feel like me.  The few people that I have left, have all there own issues and I for sure don’t want to be that all about me person.  Hope there’s others that want to start a friendship to just talk.  Thank you, TheresaF849375

Celia Will Always Be With MeWhen I got into the elevator at the medical lab the other day, I met two extremely frail elderly women each huddled and bundled in a wheelchair and both accompanied by caretakers. As we all began to chitchat (the elevator is the slowest one I have ever encountered), I found out that the invalids were 98 years old. I congratulated them for their longevity, but I did not want to converse any more with them because they seemed so pitiful.When I left the elevator, I reflected on Celia, our “adopted” mum who recently died at 101 years old. My wife and I had routinely spent quality custodial time with Celia, a British woman who was about the same age as the forlorn-looking women in the wheelchairs. But what a difference! Celia, regardless of her multiple ailments, was engaging and energetic, still able (at age 100) to revel in the birthday bash her son had provided for her at the Waikiki Elks Club.Celia used to spend hours with me on Sundays, reminiscing about her

My dad retired a year ago and it has been a very interesting process of discovery. He travels a lot more and he even got a bike, which takes him to many adventures with his friends, (if you saw him, with his black biker vest 🤭). And i have to tell you, he manages to travel light, even if he goes out of the country, but sometimes i worry for him, thinking it would be almost impossible for me to go on a 4 day trip to galapagos with just a backpack!So what do you usually do? Pack light and be free, or carry more weight but feeling more prepared? 🤔

There haven't been any topics of a vaguely generalized complaining nature lately so I thought I'd throw one out there just for the halibut...in case anybody feels like blowing off a little steam.I work nights and do a bit of driving as part of my job.  I've noticed more and more businesses and even private homes already have their christmas lights up and turned on at night.  Most of the stores didn't even wait after Halloween, they just replaced the Halloween promotions with Christmas promotions.Is (or maybe should) Christmas be coming earlier and earlier every year?  I remember when nary a trace of Christmas regalia could be found before Thanksgiving.

Colonial Americans fed lobster to prisoners because it was so cheapLobster is one of those things you buy at fancy restaurants where waiters bring you baskets of artisanal bread and call you things like “Sir” and “Madam”. However, that was not always the case. In the colonial era of the United States of America, lobster was so abundant, easy to find, and cheap that it was simply cooked up and served to prisoners as their jail food. No word on if they got hot butter to dip it in, but we would bet against it.

One of the most active First Ladies in history passed away today. She set the bar high for future First Ladies such as Hillary Clinton and Michelle Obama. Prior to Mrs. Carter, many First Ladies acted as figureheads and hostesses, with the exception of Eleanor Roosevelt. Mrs. Carter took on the problems of mental illness and other major issues and actively represented the need for change. She will be missed. Sadly, I have witnessed several extra long term marriages such as hers and President Carter's. In almost all cases, when one spouse passed, the other passed within weeks, even days.

So I recently relocated to Mableton/Austell are with my two little girls so excited that my husband and I got our first house. Not even a month later on my birthday we have a fire. The Red Cross helped us pay for a hotel room for a few days but the rest was out of pocket almost $140 a day for a month or so. While all this is going on Ive been extremely lethargic and exhausted figured it was the stress. I was walking in the bathroom to help my daughter and all of a sudden I dropped smashing my face off the vanity and waking up to her rubbing my face asking me if I was ok (she's 5 😭) so I went to the hospital to make a long story short I was diagnosed with Preriphial Artery Disease & Multiple Sclerosis that's caused Kidney Failure. They are concerned I'm developing Gangrene in my leg and I haven't even been able to get beds for us to sleep on, a table to have dinner at or dishes to eat off, dressers to put clothes in nothing and now the holidays are basically here and I have to see

Would you have interpreted this as though the person was saying they could take you to the Dr. appt? I called someone I know and asked if they could drive me to an upcoming Dr. appt. The Dr. office said I had to have someone drive me as I was going to have a procedure that could take a half hour and would involved light anesthesia. (Colonoscopy). So I needed someone to drive me home per their rules. Their rules also included that they would not release you to an Uber, taxi, etc. because if you were going to be under anesthesia prior, they didn't want people with strangers alone afterwards.. I offered my bowling buddy gas money ($25 which would have been more than enough) and also offered to buy him lunch as well.. I also said  "I'd also be glad to give you some money for your time"). That part they didn't respond to but the offer was still on the table as far as I was concerned.) They asked me what day it was. Porch Pirates are more than a nuisance. Sure they steal your packages, but what if you just got a notification that a package was delivered, you go outside to get it and actually run into a thief - then what? Some deliveries have access to your garage so they can completely open your garage door, drop off the package, and then close the door - now everyone sees what you have. Others use a porch box, but that's only good if you check it every day or pause your deliveries or the thief just takes the whole box.   It's time to "Change how America gets their Mail."

The first movie I saw at a drive-in was an Elvis movie...Love Me Tender...I think.  I was five or six and after the excitement of the big screen, all my brother and I wanted to do was run around and play on the swings and slide!  I think we saw all the Elvis movies at the drive-in.  Great memories!  How about you?

Heard it first at gop convention, and then ai really listened to it on repeat to listen to the lyrics. Yet another multiple murder using an assault rifle to kill as many people as possible as quickly as possible has occurred. It has become such an everyday occurrence that the news is no longer following the story even though it is only hours after the event. It is time for the citizens of this country to call for the banning of all semi-automatic assault weapons. Other countries have done it. The grief and anguish caused by this daily onslaught of multiple deaths is affecting the psyche of the country as a whole.
