Wonders Never Cease in WaikikiYesterday while I was driving adjacent to a golf course, I saw a young man artfully maneuvering (to a tee) on a motorized skateboard. With spot-on precision, he weaved between crowds that were ambling and milling about on narrow sidewalks. But what impressed me the most was his graceful, undulating, and soul hand movements that reminded me of the soulful gestures of an orchestral conductor. Who knows? Perhaps through his ear buds, he was moved by a symphonic adagio. Because I was slowed down in a lot of traffic, I was able to have a few extra moments marveling at this elegant skateboarding maestro.Just before I reached my Leisure Heritage condo, I was struck by another unexpected sight. A seven-foot man and his partner, a five-foot woman, lined up at a bus stop. The contrast was stunning. The young lady’s neck muscles must get a workout whenever she looks up at her mate, unless she can equalize their stature. There is at least one way to combat their extre
A reminder, if you have this SiriusXM feature in your vehicle it was enabled free from Last Tuesday night & I believe through the upcoming week. They also do this promotion around Memorial Day. The channels are somewhat limited to around 100, but enough content. Remember keep eyes on the road & do not let this become a distraction.
Watching this on the big screen (with rabbit ears), right now. We've made this part of our Thanksgiving tradition (3rd Annual), because... It's hilarious! The host, John O'Hurley, is awesome. She's one of my favorites! I hope she has the best birthday! ♡ 'On the cusp of Scorpio and Sagittarius, she's more Scorpio than Sagittarius, her mum says.' I'm putting this thread under "Leisure & Lifestyle" because it's really not about grief, loss or health. It's about the envitalbe death every single person (unless you're an Enoch fan) will experience. Personally, I want to have a little fun with it, and I have. Also, Iike the pressure it will take off my family when I finally die. So, I'll post what I've got so far and hope someone else will too, if anyone else has someting like this. 🙂I have been looking at designs and examples for my funeral dress, which I would like to make for myself, (I sew), but will resort to buying if necessary. It is going to be a long, hooded, long-sleeved, medieval-type dress and I will lying be in, hopefully a cardboard box, as I am being cremated, surrounded by sunflowers and holding a bunch of them at my waist. My hair, which will be teal green, of course, will be pulled forward. My daughter will know how to apply my liquid moisturizer, mascara and eyelin
PLEASE DON’T SAY 'HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY'[source: https://www.countrylifecitywife.com/2016/05/please-dont-say-happy-memorial-day/] There seems to be a debate over three simple words: Happy Memorial Day. Or maybe the right word is confusion. Are they appropriate? Are they offensive? Are they ignorant? Why could that phrase possibly be any of those things? Memorial Day observes our fallen – those who have given their lives in service to our country. It is a day to take pause, to honor and remember them. It is a time for their families to grieve and celebrate their lives in a way that’s appropriate for them. Veterans Day observes all who have served; those alive and those who made the ultimate sacrifice because they chose to answer the call to duty for their country. While it’s great to have gratitude every single day (and you should) please remember the difference between the two while we remember why we have the day off.---------------------------------------------------
The 80s had the (right) stuff, from The Empire Strikes Back to Do the Right Thing. Share your memories of watching these classics and others for the first time. (Read the article here.)
Not a Good SignThe other day on the bus, I noticed a young woman enter with her toddler and some bulky luggage. The boy quickly sat in the outside seat. The mother encouraged him to move over so that she would have more space for the luggage. The boy refused to budge. She again asked him to slide into the other seat. He once more stayed put. With more emphasis, the mother implored him to move. He didn’t. The mother then gave up. She had to hoist the luggage and herself across the boy, who seemed utterly unconcerned about this cumbersome process. Well, what do you expect from a kid, eh? After all, he could have been in the throes of the terrible twos.Although I’m not clairvoyant, I can imagine this undisciplined child ignoring and even exploiting his parent(s) throughout his life. His selfishness right now might well lead to his self-aggrandizement later as he sees his parent(s) as an impediment to his own ego-driven needs. Why listen to, never mind respect, a parent’s advice or admonis
To me, the world definitely needs more Peace, Love and Understanding. Song should have Peace, Love or some form of Understanding in the title. I’ll start with the Anthem: (What’s so funny ‘bout) Peace, Love andUnderstanding Elvis Costello&the Attractions
I was able to watch some of The Hidden Power of Purpose documentary on Movies for Grownups this past week. However, due to technical difficulties I missed some parts and would love to find additional information. Is there a way to buy/rent this documentary and/or obtain additional information regarding the people interviewed, the programs highlighted, and the studies referenced in the film?
