In today's major corporate world. it seems that some cafes and restaurants are refusing to offer discounts for those over the age of 55. Car dealerships are also guilty of that as well. At one time when a restaurant has shooed away an elderly person, someone saw it and launched a boycott and got the restaurant manager in trouble. Now sometimes, a restaurant chain or a coffee shop chain would put the blame on corporate and it ends up boiling down to a stupid he said-she said game. Starbucks sometimes think it's so fun to nor offer senior discounts and they say just because there are so many that are over the age of 55 that they feel they would lose money if they did offer the huge discounts. The truth is that if the establishment is boycotted, they would lose more money with a boycott than offering discounts. Maybe it is time we launch protests or boycotts against all companies who fail to offer discounts to those over the age of 55.

Okay, so we've covered 'Alive,' 'Living,' and (most recently, by MaVolta) 'Life.' I've realized there are still some songs that do not fit into any of these, such as songs with 'Live' in the title. I think you may know what I mean. In title, or lyrical, is fine. I will start with... Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark - (Forever) Live And Die 😁

August 1973, now 51 years ago, “Travelin’ Prayer” was released as the third single off the album whose title song is little known or appreciated in pop music, “Piano Man.” In all seriousness, while dwarfed by the massively successful career-defining song by Billy Joel, “Travelin’ Prayer” is one of my favorite little-known Joel songs. It features perhaps his best honkey-tonk piano work, fantastic banjo, and even some killer mouth harp 🤣. The song provides the theme for today’s playlist, rock and pop songs featuring banjo. Yes banjo in rock. It continues the series of playlists of instruments in rock previously highlighting acoustic guitar intros, bass guitar, piano, keyboard, accordion, saxophone, flute, harmonica, and most recently mandolin. Some rock and pop artists with songs on the list include The Beatles, The Who, Led Zeppelin, The Byrds, Buffalo Springfield, The Hollies, Fleetwood Mac, Elton John, The Doobie Brothers, The Eagles, REM, Madonna, Matchbox Twenty, Dave Matthews

Continuing with my series of playlists of rock and pop songs featuring particular instruments, with past blogs highlighting the piano, keyboards, acoustic guitar, bass guitar, harmonica, accordion, and flute, today’s blog salutes the mandolin. While most common in classical, bluegrass, and folk music, the mandolin has found a place in some great rock and pop songs. A few bands with regular inclusion of mandolin in their music included Led Zeppelin, the Grateful Dead, REM, and the Hooters. Some mandolin song greats included Zep’s Battle of Evermore and Going to California, Grateful Dead’s Friend of the Devil and Ripple, REM’s Losing My Religion, Hooters And We Danced, Steve Winwood’s Back In The High Life, Goo Goo Dolls Iris, Billy Joel’s Piano Man, Bruce Hornsby’s Mandolin Rain, the playlist title song, and Elton John’s Mona Lisas And Mad Hatters, perhaps my favorite song on the list.So give it a listen, and give attention to the mandolin, sometimes in the background, sometimes as a li

Almost missed it! I love clowns! 🤡 I never thought clowns were funny, though. I just thought they were interesting. How 'National Clown Week' (.pdf) came to be! ⬇️ Although opinions vary as to who first had the idea for a clown week or who first started petitioning their congressmen for a proclamation to make this a celebrated week, clowns everywhere are glad it came to pass. History has shown that there was a humble beginning to this celebration in the early 1950's, but October 8th, 1970 the House and Senate approved the proclamation and sent it to the president for a signature into law. On August 2nd, 1971, President Nixon signed a Proclamation into law that August 1st through the 7th shall be known as, 'National Clown Week.' If you're afraid of clowns, there's a word for it: 'Coulrophobia.' [Why Are You So Afraid of Clowns? - Time][The History and Psychology of Clowns Being Scary - Smithsonian Magazine] Articles:🤡 It’s
