Question

Job Searching over 50

Hello All,

I don’t know where to begin. I’ve been at my current job for 20 years. I never thought I’d be in this boat. Despite good reviews and work relationships, this company never promoted. We recently went through a merger which has been insane. I heard they are going to do a rebranding next which is worse I was advised. They didn’t do merit raises and I politely asked for a title change and was refused. I am beyond hopeless at this time. They just keep piling work on us and don’t hear our cries.

It seems the job market is very geared toward specialized skills these days or the gig work jobs, which you can have any one of them on any given day, however, they are not sustainable or are for the interns (youth).

As far as retirement and looking ahead, I might be able to get away with working a full, part time job, but it’s trial and error. Who can relate?

Any tips? Once again, I never thought I’d be in this boat and I do have good skills to offer...thank you.

Rachel @RachelR591391 , what are you interested in doing? NO pressure to respond. Finding a PASSION is what is going to get you out of bed. Once you know what you are "interested" in - find someone who is already doing it. Ask them for tips on how to get into that field.

Take care,
