Consumer Cellular IS BAD!!!!

We moved to consumer cellular in 2022. The service has degraded to the point of being unusable as of July 2026. Tech support is poor. The coverage in So. California is poor at best. Tech support makes excuses to the ATT partner services (towers) they rely on. Customer service support is a joke. We had a supervisor actually hang up during a call when we asked for his supervisor. They read from scripts, and have little knowledge when it comes to coverage issues. BEWARE OF CONSUMER CELLULAR!!!!

      I have had the opposite experience with Consumer Cellular. Easy to reach, very helpful Customer Service. No interruptions and excellent coverage. Highly trained associates that are thoroughly familiar with all the coverage information, packages, and price points.

        When I moved to a new state, I requested a new phone number so my family-who now lived next door- wouldn't have to pay long distance charges to call me. After three attempts all I had gotten were three more out-of-state phone numbers. Eventually they just lied outright and stated there were no available phone numbers in my new state. Dropped them immediately and my new provider had no trouble assigning a new local number. Customer service reps were nice enough, just had no clue how to provide actual customer service.

          Question: are you referring to calling your cell from a landline?

           

          I ask because I didn't think any cell services charged "long distance" within the U.S. anymore...

          Todd, I'm so incredibly sorry for this happening to you and your family.

           

          Here is my personal PSA I've previously posted but bears repeating: Use the Search feature on the AARP Community home page before using any services, especially with AARP "discounts"...

           

          Searching "Consumer Cellular" returns complaints going back to at least 2018.
