Why is AARP Extra Credit Rewards so awful every month?

Dear AARP,

Every month I wake up midnight on the first day of the month to earn extra credit rewards. Every month it is a debacle. It usually takes hours for your system to catch up or resolve itself. I hope there is admins in the background fixing the problems, but this is just a horrible experience. Why so broken for so long?

I agree.  I have to do the same midnight effort and frequently experience problems with the rewards site.  My wife and I have just both completed the required "lessons" for the Kohl's and Amazon gift cards and aren't getting the opportunity to claim the rewards.  I sent a text and tried to open a chat which are both supposed to be available 24/7, but no response.

Keep trying. I was finally able to get the Kohl's and Amazon card. The lessons pages were still goofed up, but it allowed me to redeem the points for the cards. Share your pain.

I agree with you. Every month the extra rewards is broken. I've tried completing the Extra Credit lessons. Sometimes they show complete other times they never complete. Tonight some the pages showed duplicates. Unfortunately, It seems like this will never be fixed. I guess we have to be grateful to get anything. I was able to get the Amazon gift card before it broke down.

If you call AARP a team, than you are sadly mistaken!!  Everyone is cordial, but the problem never gets fixed!!

This appears to be standard operating procedures for AARP, not just extra credit rewards, but throughout the site.  Some videos play without picture, some are incorrectly linked, sometimes no credit, etc.....  I believe the IT is outsourced, and this has been brought up by me and others for the last couple of years, without total correction!!

Totally unnecessary!  And yet, they think those of us that know better will come to AARP to learn about tech!!  AARP is not good with tech or response to IT issues!!

this website is the least user friendly place I've seen. Communication about events is awful, links broken to sweepstakes and rewards.  No chat open EVER!

link never works

i wouldn't waste my money on membership but i have to have it for my insurance.  maybe time to change insurance.

And then, to add insult to injury, after you've been working for a half hour or longer trying to get the system to work, only to find the reward is now sold out, they give you the disingenuous message "We’re working to get more inventory".
Like it's their last ditch effort to get you to waste even more time checking back to see if their hard work has paid off and they've gotten more inventory. Which, of course, they NEVER do.
