Fort Worth Shred Day Didn't Happen - Why?

The AARP TX Texas Shred 'Em Event original date was cancelled because of weather and rescheduled for May 2, 2026.

I cancelled my golf game and drove over an hour on May 2, 2026 for the first rescheduled day only to find no one there.

What happened? Was it cancelled and I missed the announcement? Is the shred day going to be rescheduled again?

Is there going to be an actual event we can attend?

I emailed the txaarp@aarp.org but have not received a response.

Thanks.

Wouldn’t surprise me if it got quietly cancelled again because of weather or staffing. I always double check these free events the morning of now after getting burned once myself lol

Since you had to drive over an hour to get there, maybe you're not a resident of Fort Worth?  But Fort Worth provides free shredding to people:  "Show a recent Fort Worth water bill or current driver’s license with a Fort Worth address and have an active sanitation account."  They have four drop-off locations.

Maybe wherever you live has a similar program.  Or maybe it would be cheaper and definitely less hassle to pay for shredding instead of a 2-hour round trip by car.

I have a Fort Worth address but do not live in the city limits so that is not an option. The solution would be for the advertised service to actually be provided.

I apologize for my rookie mistake.  I'll try to do better in the future, by just joining in the complaining.
