Avis car rental discount is useless

Others have commented how bad Avis is but I just searched for a car for an upcoming trip to Palm Springs, CA using the AARP discount.  The lowest rate was about $100 more than the rate I got using Orbitz.  I would suggest that anyone needing a car rental use Orbitz and not waste their time trying to find a car from Avis using the (useless) AARP discount.

Thank you David @DavidS675044 , I will keep them in mind for when my daughter needs a rental. Take care, Nicole (Benefits & Discounts Forum)

➡️[*** DAVID POSTED - I have used Orbitz before--multiple times, in fact--and I have never had a problem with them...at least, not yet.

David @DavidS675044 , NO pressure to respond but wondering IF you have used Orbitz before? If YES, how was the experience? Yes, it is AWESOME securing a "deal" online or over phone or in-person. Lol, but the NIGHTMARE "sometimes" happens when it is TIME TO PICK UP OR DROP OFF VEHICLE!!! 😅 Enjoy your trip & thanks for sharing with us.

I don’t know about anyone else, but when I look for hotels, airfare and car rentals I do a lot of research.

Booking directly with hotels for instance can sometimes give you a way cheaper rate on their website, as opposed to travel discount sites.  Same goes with car rentals.  Discount codes are a quick search, and plentiful.  AAA, AARP, and other online travel company discounts can be beat, and are worth searching for if you’re game.

I totally agree.  I always book directly with hotels and airlines and that is also the best bet if you have or want status with the brand.
