Thank you. My mom passed away almost a year ago. 10/31/22 was when she passed, unexpectedly. It's been a very tough year. My dad is in the final stages of Dementia. He is in assisted living, amd has 24/7 hospice care. I have alot of support, but as the anniversary of my mom's passing approaches, my grief is getting worse. I'm trying to plan ahead for the day, which, is also Halloween. My mom loved Halloween, so, my thought was to try to put together candy for the kiddos. She also loved children. Any ideas for getting through that day would be greatly appreciated.

Erica, I'm so sorry for the loss of your Mom. And it's so nice you are there for your Dad. I know these times are very painful. There are good people on this site who can help you get through this.
Halloween can be a way to detach and help your Mom celebrate her favorite time in spirit. I know someone who has an angel ๐ ghost floating in front of his house!

Thank you so much Nicole @Winter2025VA. I have had memories of this horrible day a year ago off and on during the day. On the other hand, I feel fulfilled that I was able to make a difference in some people's lives today. I spoke to strangers, let people go in front of me, served food to people who are less fortunate, and participated in a walk against hate. In addition, I have been blessed with friends who treated me to dinner, sent gifts, and sent text messages. I have many things to be grateful for and I feel that my husband's legacy lives on through all of our acts of kindness.

Dear Marcy, I am thinking and praying for you today. I am reading DIFFERENT AFTER YOU, written by Michele Neff Hernandez and came across this quote: "Tragic events cause the death of one version of ourselves, and from the ashes of our previous life, a new life is born, one rich with possibility." You, dear Marcy, are rising from the ashes of one life and opening your heart to another. You have shared such good advice with me and many others on this site and we love you for it. Be kind to yourself today. โค๏ธ

Good morning Nicole. Been a little busy this week and haven't gotten around to posting. I am heading down OC Maryland today for Sunset. Just me, my son and my mom. Only a one day trip but, it will be nice to get out of the house and see some different sites. Our boy is growing like a weed. We are still working on the potty training but he is starting to get better at it. I thought I would share with you all the latest. Here he is sharing a snooze with his brother.

Nicole @Winter2025VA, My husband was a people person and when he was healthy he would do anything he could to help others. To honor his memory on the 22nd, I am participating in a Walk Against Hate in the morning and serving meals to people who are homeless and/or food insecure in the afternoon. In the evening, I am meeting a friend for dinner.

I know what you mean Nicole. I don't celebrate Valentine's Day because that was my Dad's birthday but, St. Patrick's Day was our 32nd anniversary of meeting and then Mother's and Father's Day, what would have been our 31st wedding anniversary. We also had birthdays in September. Now we are approaching Thanksgiving, my daughter's birthday Christmas and New years alone. And then most of all, our daughter's wedding next year. I feel so alone and angry because he left me to do all this on my own.
