Hi- I am looking to (maybe) retire next year. One thing I need to address is getting one of my needed medications : Xarelto . Without insurance it will cost me $528.00 a month....
I've had people tell me get it online from Canadian Pharmacies. I am pursuing that angle, and am looking for first-hand recommendations for online resoureces from others who may be using this approach already.
Any info is much appreciated!
This is an excellent question and really needs a lot more high level input ( Pharmacists, Doctors, Researchers) in my opinion. I have spent months trying to research this talking with my doctors, Pharmacists, CIPA, and NAPRA. The feedback that I get back from these people in the know is mixed.
First note that AARP cautions against buying prescription drugs from any Canadian online Pharmacy. That speaks volumes to me.
I spoke with CIPA and they tell me that all the online Pharmacies they Certify go through a thorough review/process before they certify them ( read more on CIPA.com). There are only 39 I think.
NAPRA is very helpful and is "the authority" in the USA. All Pharmacies in the US must be NAPRA certified. They tell me that a Canadian Pharmacy cannot accept and cannot fill a US providers Prescription. Also a US Pharmacy cannot accept and fill a Canadian Doctors script unless the Doctor is Registered in the particular State. So- what the heck is going on here ONLINE Pharmacies in Canada??? CIPA didn't tell me that- why not?? So, is CIPA legit? I don't know.
Are any of these online pharmacies legit?
This subject is a never ending black hole in which you cannot get trust worthy information that even the experts can agree on. No wonder all of us have questions and go to a Forum to find answers.
Hi. Don't know if you've since found your answer, but I've used canshipmeds.com (Marks Marine Pharmacy) and canadianpharmacyworld.com. Except for the shipping time (getting thru Canada-US customs is just as long as international customs. In fact, my rx from Turkey was faster.), no problems whatsoever. They typically offer generics (if avail) and brand name so be careful choosing. I would call on my first order to make sure the order is right. Communication and customer services gets high marks. Marks Marine is a brick-and-mortar pharmacy and CPW is a CIPA approved pharmacy. Canada Pharmacy is another CIPA approved pharmacy that I check prices with. (These all get stellar reviews.) Do google search for CIPA approved pharmacies in Canada for other pharmacies. Good luck!
(This is my own personal opinion and experience. Not "official" nor meant to override your own due diligence.)
