b660747j  I'm sorry you're having trouble with the AARP Now mobile app. First, try logging out and back into the app. If this does not solve the problem, uninstall and then reinstall the AARP Now app. This updates your AARP Now app to the latest version. If you're on your mobile, go to http://aarp.org/now?cmp=SNO-LITHIUM---&socialid=16039488346 to download the app. Please let me know how I can help.   Jodee R.

You're not understanding. We need a version compatible with ios15. When you go to the Apple app store to install it, it says the app requires ios16 but will download the last compatible version (for ios15). Whatever it downloads constantly crashes before you can even log in. It just flashes the log in screen and then "bang", it crashes. This is up to the developer(s) to fix, usually there is a way to make them backwards compatible when you compile the app. (You can uninstall and reinstall until you're blue in the face, but that's not going to fix the problem.)

Different issue. As of 13 August 2026, AARP Now only runs on ios18 or higher. My perfectly functional iPad is too old to run ios18; the newest version it will run is 17.7.11

It is totally bogus and completely contrary to the supposed AARP ethos of caring for all seniors, even those who are unable or chose to not replace functional technology with the latest, greatest & most expensive.

I hear ya.   @ljconrad    I remember when I couldnโ€™t let go of an older version of Windows I had on desktop.  Worked perfectly well, but almost all websites had moved on from it years prior, and those of us hanging on were sol.  Security and performance were reasons I was told at the time.  All reasons things changed to the supposed bigger and better.

I couldnโ€™t keep blaming MS, or Websites that wouldnโ€™t accommodate, I was a dinosaur in a Land of the New.  I was told to either change or be rendered obsolete.  In the Land of the Cars, I needed to move on from the horse and buggy.

I get what youโ€™re saying, but the world changes, whether we want it to or not.  You have an old iPad.  You do.  AARP will not be the only place you will encounter that has to have a minimum iOS for it to perform as needed.  It has nothing to do with having an ethos for caring about seniors or not.  You have an old iPad.  Time to get off the pot like I had to finally realize when I came to that conclusion.  Change can be hard, and weโ€™ve been comfortable the way things have been,  I get it.   ๐Ÿ‘

while there is an element of retaining the known, my primary issue is unnecessary consumption. With the occasional exceptions apps which are updated and consequently will not run, my iPad is perfectly functional and does everything I desire.

I am philosophically opposed to upgrading hardware for features for which I have neither need nor desire (not to mention the annoyance of shifting hundreds of Gigs of data). In this case the new features have little to do with security or functionality and much to do with fashion, e.g. gratuitous AI features.

Gotcha, well I could only go so far with that.  Hit way too many obstacles by not upgrading and changing my way of thinking.  I wish you well. @ljconrad

There is of course a point where upgrade is unavoidableโ€ฆbut this should not be that point.

Yep, I get it.  I was doing that same dance for many years.  Holding out to prove a point.  Life became easier when I realized what all the fuss was about.  My slow computer was a relic, and I wished I had stopped fighting the change sooner.
