I have no clue, but it reminds me of those things you stick in a turkey and when the turkey is done the knob pops .  The other guess was a TB test syringe, but that had multiple points if i remember

As I was thinking about making paper chains and snowflakes, I fondly remembered this old magazine.  It was always chock full of creative ways to use construction paper, pipe cleaners, Dixie cups, toilet paper rolls and scraps into countless items.   It kept me busy for hours, and I remember eagerly awaiting its delivery.  โ€ฆ.those certainly were simpler daysโ€ฆ.

Does anyone else remember when these were atop Christmas trees?

We had one when I was very young, but it was replaced by an angel.

I remember seeing those on other peopleโ€™s trees, but we usually had an angel or star, sometimes making the stars.

Oh, I love that you made the stars!   I still enjoy showing children how to make paper snowflakes to display on windows.

This reminded me of our 4th grade teacher using the snowflakes we made as a social studies lesson: something like "just like people, no two are alike but so beautiful in their own way..." wow, flash back 60+ years!

Thanks for the lovely reminder...

Great social studies teacher you had.  Wish the schools could still be allowed to teach diversity, and acceptance now.  Thatโ€™s a perfect lesson example right there.

     Oh gosh - thank you!

I taught Special Education for 38 yearsโ€ฆwe made snowflakes every December, and I always gently remarked how each snowflake was unique, that no two were alike, and that all of us were special in our own way.

Iโ€™ve forgotten about the paper snowflakes.  Making those in elementary school was my first memory of doing those.  The folding and then cutting a design in them, revealing upon the great reveal what each unique snowflake looked like.  That craft and tie-dying  tshirts in the summer always brought a great reveal.

I do remember these; seemed like every other year one would shatter during tree "take down" activity ๐Ÿ˜‰ although I suspect Mom somehow just wanted a new one for next year...

Iโ€™m glad somebody else remembers these!  โ€ฆ.I have found a few at estate sales, but they are pretty scarce.

True, the "original" versions were so delicate; but I've seen new ones available online and especially on Etsy. Might be worth Google search "glass tree toppers"?

I loved those lights. Would watch the bubbles like a fireplace (which we didn't have).

However, I also remember that, when one burnt out, they all did, and my poor Dad was always in charge of finding the errant light and replacing it.

Hi, Rebecca, was the one you got at an antique place for using or collection piece?  Itโ€™s fun finding these classic kitchen gadgets.

Thatโ€™s an old one for sure!

I  have two mid 1970/80-ish ones someone still had, in good condition, that I got on EBay many years ago, still in the boxes.  Just used it the other day, actually.  So much fun to use them!
