Still do. Mother taught me that you wore the best you had when you went to visit the Lord. I'm not real crazy about the dress codes at churches these days.
25% of the women look like they are going too or coming from a honky tonk. At least that amount of men look like they are fixing to tee off.
When our pastor (never a tie) lets one of the younger ministers give the sermon about half of them were t-shoes. I don't care how much they cost, they are t-shoes.
I know, old fashion and out of touch.๐

Well, if you are old-fashioned and out of touch, then so am I! ๐. I found myself nodding in agreement at what you wrote! ๐๐ป
I recently attended a service where the Pastor preached while wearing a zip front hoodie and T-shoes. I found it very off-putting that he was dressed in clothes Iโd only wear gardening or walking. Iโll admit that I felt guilty feeling this way, and internally chastised myself.
I agree with you. I feel it is a matter of (if you have chosen to attend a service) respecting that the Church is a place of reverence and significance.

Don't feel bad about how you feel. The Bible says to give your best to the Lord and I take that to also mean how you come to him. God told Abraham to give his best. God told the Jews that their sacrifices were sick and lame, and they were sent into slavery for allowing it to happen. I don't know how much cleared it can be made that he expects our best.
My sister n law who is an ordained minister puts' it this way. What would you wear if you were going to a State Dinner at the White House? Lot of people need to answer that question while getting dressed for church.

A hassock, footstool, ottoman, or pouf. My parents used them to prop up their feet, or to place their knitting needles and yarn project, even newspapers. ๐
P.S. Forgot about the cats... definitely made for cats. lol

Scary! ๐ Never have I ever seen these in their product form, not once.
So...What year were these on the shelves? I think that'd be quite informative.
A thing of the past, and exactly where it should stay! IMO. Sorry! ;-D
Thanks for sharing, @DaveMcK! : D

I had these and I also had โAmerican Plastic Bricksโ. The bricks were pre-Lego, and came in a large cardboard tub. I remember building houses and stalls for the little plastic Noahโs Ark animal pairs that were a freebie from the gas station too! This was way back, when everyone was encouraged to โput a tiger in your tankโ, and most gas stations had โgive-alwaysโ. ๐

@LisaS961881 , I remember the freebie tiger tails that Esso (or was it Exxon by that time?) gave out to attach to your gas caps and show you had "a tiger in your tank". ๐

Oh goodness - yes! It had a black loop to attach it to your gas cap. We would get so excited when we saw another car that also had a tail hanging out of their tank ! The kids in the cars would wave at each other, and the parents would laugh and wave too.
โฆ.And writing this just brought back another memory - playing โcar bingoโ when we were on long road trips. The game had thick cardboard cards with little plastic sliders that you would use when you spotted something like a train or school. It really kept us engaged,
