Kind of related to the washer above, Grandma used a mangle iron, similar to this photo, to iron sheets and pillowcases.

You could still get this as a Factory option in Vehicles (GM at least) up to as late as 1984. 

I had a copy of Brian Auger's Oblivion Express... "Closer to it!" I had saved for nostalgic sake, not sure what happened to it though.  This tape loop concept was a great idea, though didn't wear well.
