I may be wrong, but I believe grief is a LIFETIME JOURNEY.

WE try to pick up the pieces the best we can.

 YUP- Grief is indeed a lifelong journey. The love of my live went to heaven just before Christmas in 2021 so will be four years this christmas. I am actually now functioning  very well

and living life normally (whatever that is). But every once in a while I notice something that reminds me of Jan - maybe shed a few tears but not many. The solace I have is the way I was able to take care of her since Dec. 2014. It was at that point her kidneys failed and she began the downward  journey.  She ended up with a kidney transplant in 2015, two strokes one in 2016 one about 88 days after the first stroke, two broken shoulders from falls and a hip replacement. She did over 100 Dr. visits, had  the two surgeries, and recoveries, and the disabling strokes. The sad part was she recovered 100% from the first stroke but the Dr. told us to wait 90 days before we know that all is ok as  a second stroke is common within the first 90 days. She had her second and  much more disabling stroke on the 88th day. Through this all she was positive and had a great attitude.

The end came in Dec. 21 of 2021. She had contacted covid in October and the first thing the Dr. told me was that she had virtually no chance of recovering from it as she had no immune system due to the anti-rejection drugs she was on for her kidney.

And life goes on.

 I am doing okay right now.  Never quite sure what kind of day it is going to be.  Yesterday I felt drained and just wanted to sleep, but today I have more energy and I'm actually digging into the Psalms a little.  I had bible study and lunch with friends of Wednesday and felt good after.  Starting to notice  a bit of a pattern, in that, days after I have seen friends always seem to be a little harder.  I guess I need to find a balance between activity and quiet.

Why?

Because you are "stepping out there" and checking things out.

And try to be KIND TO YOURSELF.

Too many times we may feel guilty for having a GOOD MOMENT.

Good moments will come our way and this does NOT mean we have FORGOTTEN the ones we lost. 😭

Remember, they are ALWAYS WITH US and want us to "include" them in OUR NEW LIFE here on earth.

Our old group here (now all left) had been chatting about SIGNS from our luv ones. Maybe he has sent you some to let you know he SEES and LUVS you. 💛

Bottom line - EVERYONE's Healing Journey will be UNIQUE.

I lost my husband Jim on Feb. 2, 2024 after a three year battle with lung cancer.  I was offered help through grief therapy groups but I was not ready to talk to others about it.  I think I was worried about hearing so many sad stories .  I am thankful there is this forum for me because unfortunately the program I was offered after his death had a one year expiration date on it.  I don't understand that.  Everyone grieves differently and there shouldn't be a time line for when you need to be ready to seek out others.  I miss him and nights are still the hardest for me.  I have wonderful kids and grandkids that are there for me and a wonderful support system in friends and my church, but there are still times I feel so alone.

My daughter lives in Florida and one day I HOPE to return. We chat EVERY DAY, but it is NOT the same as being there with her.

MEANWHILE, I luv on Mister 🐈, a stray I "inherited" last year May 2024. A luvable fellow. 💛
