Sunday 49* and sunshine, I think I’ve been gone, don’t recall anything so I must have had fun?

@LydiaN586309

I still swear by my airpot, just dump a pot of coffee in it and 2-3 days later it’s still ready to go - hot coffee.

Bought mine in 2001, at CGXchange. Now available at Walmart.

@LaDolceVita

Re:stairs added a second railing just in case for basement stairs 2x4 for vertical posts and 2x4 for railing with planed edges for round over.🤣 No splinters

With two layers of foam matting, and a scrap of 100oz carpet at the bottom landing. And a Wifi extender just in case , there also is a trimline phone in the corner.

Amazing what vertigo can do for CYA.

One more warm day , Monday promises rain, wind and power outages- guess what I’ll be doing for the next 3 hours🤣

And yes, after long days/nights, I'd still like to swing these hunks of glass , plastic and silicon against the nearest wall Come on retirement!

Hi there, Peeps!

Another nice day here. As Froze said, tomorrow brings rain, wind, thunderstorms...a real bag of ugly.

@LaDolceVita ...My heart goes out to you after that fall. I HATE the basement and have to go down there for the laundry. Inching my way down and practically crawling back up after I twisted my worst knee somehow a couple of weeks ago. I do have a railing on one side, and when I get down half way, there is a steel beam with a ledge I can use on the other side. Getting back up used to be easier when I had the laundry basket because I would put it on a step or two above me, lean on the basket like a walker and walk it and myself up the steps that way. Now it is iffy as I never know when my knee is going to pop. Until my stepson comes and helps me set up the new phones (I'll put an extension down in the basement) I have to remember to take my cell with me.

Next spring he is supposed to build a small addition so I can get the washer and dryer on this level! We'll see....

@LydiaN586309 ...I always wanted to go through one of those drive-through light displays, but figured I'd miss so much if I had to do the driving. LOL.

@Frozenoem ...Love that license plate! 😄

Time to go get more decorations from upstairs (at least I do have the chair glide for that level of the house).

My neighborhood is following the trend of decorating early this year, and I want to get anything I have to put outside done before bad weather hits.

You all stay safe!

Time for more coffee...

Good Wednesday afternoon to everyone on the Front Porch! We are being treated to clear skies and a high of 49 degrees today. Tomorrow will be partly cloudy and 43. Our Covid-19 new cases per day average for the last 7 days is 4413.

Happy Thanksgiving to all on the front porch.  th-pilgrim

I am thankful to be here to celebrate in spite of a rough and tumble year.

(I'll let you know if there is another thing I will be grateful for right after the Football Team/Cowboys game this afternoon. wink )

I will forgo the #opt[ing]outside at any state or national park on Black Friday, because of the bigger-than-usual crowds (looking to be a good outdoors-y day tomorrow), but that does not mean I won't be outside somewhere quiet and peaceful.

Here's to new traditions and a new future! 🥂

I just had to share that I saw 3 more peppers growing on my pepper plants.  Unprecedented, we usually get frost at the end of October.   Winter coming in like a lion next week though.   I am taking it easy this Thanksgiving and not cooking!  Have plenty to eat and much to be thankful for.  Including my tumble down the basement stairs head first.  No injuries no bruising 😜.

@DaveMcK ...I have the same autumn leaf tablecloth!

Officially ushered in the holiday season by putting the poinsettia comforter and shams on my bed when I changed it today.

Best wishes to all of you for a safe, healthy, and enjoyable Thanksgiving!

Looks like the rain may have stopped. YAY!

Good Wednesday morning to everyone on the Front Porch! We are facing an abnormal way of celebrating a traditional American Holiday in this abnormal 2020. Mary and I will be having our Thanksgiving dinner in our Retirement center apartment which will be delivered to our door around Noon. None of our family will be having dinner as a group. Our oldest daughter Michelle will be fixing  a dinner for them self and taking part of the dinner to her sister-in-law's apartment to leave there. The other daughters will be at there homes.

happy-thanksgiving-wishes.jpg

Thanksgiving Day is a national holiday in the United States, and Thanksgiving 2020 occurs on Thursday, November 26. In 1621, the Plymouth colonists and Wampanoag Native Americans shared an autumn harvest feast that is acknowledged today as one of the first Thanksgiving celebrations in the colonies. For more than two centuries, days of thanksgiving were celebrated by individual colonies and states. It wasn’t until 1863, in the midst of the Civil War, that President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed a national Thanksgiving Day to be held each November.

Thanksgiving at Plymouth

In September 1620, a small ship called the Mayflower left Plymouth, England, carrying 102 passengers—an assortment of religious separatists seeking a new home where they could freely practice their faith and other individuals lured by the promise of prosperity and land ownership in the New World. After a treacherous and uncomfortable crossing that lasted 66 days, they dropped anchor near the tip of Cape Cod, far north of their intended destination at the mouth of the Hudson River. One month later, the Mayflower crossed Massachusetts Bay, where the Pilgrims, as they are now commonly known, began the work of establishing a village at Plymouth.

Good Tuesday morning to everyone on the Front Porch! This Tuesday morning will usher in our first measurable snow fall of up to three inches! So what better way to great the morning than with a batch of fresh waffles, some sausage patties and a pot of chocolate turtle coffee to round out our morning breakfast.

Happy Thanksgiving folks!   I picked my last pepper this AM.  Still no frost although we have had 33 for a low.  Gets down right cold next week.   All is well, still loving this fall weather.   Demolishing old house on homestead, taking a while to do!  All I want for Christmas is more time to do what I want to do.  Unlikely that I will get this gift.

Happy Thanksgiving Eve, Peeps!

@LaDolceVita ...I could use one of your peppers for my cole slaw that I have to make today. 😺 Had to get "store bought" peppers of course. 😒

Well, this Thanksgiving will certainly be different. I hope you all can enjoy the day even though things are not normal. I am still going to my friend's house. There will only be four of us this year, but at least I won't be spending the whole day alone. I would have been OK with that though, knowing this can't last forever.

They are forecasting rain for Thanksgiving here. Hate making the long drive in the rain, but it may not be as bad later in the day when I start out.

At least the Macy's parade will be on TV tomorrow, even though it will be different. Then the dog show is on... which is always a boost.

If I don't get back here tomorrow, blessings to everyone!

@DaveMcK , at least Packers are hanging on to a fairly solid 1st place in the NFC North and only one team with better record in the entire NFC (Saints).

@catwoman500  can take solace the Eagles still maintain 1st in the East by ½ point with their 3 wins and 1 tie.  Football Team, Cowboys, Giants tied for 2nd (or last) with 3 wins.  Guess what I'm doing (watching) on Thanksgiving? 🤣

Most of the leaves are down and the wind is 'sweeping the floors' into various concentrated piles.  Although some of those 'piles' seem to be concentrated in the kids 'watering holes' like that old hubcap under the old oak tree (can't imagine why 😹).  Time to go skim.

Hey All!

Remember I had been questioning how the annual Hatboro Christmas parade was going to do this "neighborhood route" this year? Well, Ha!

It turned out to be about 25 emergency vehicles, a few small convertibles with officials riding in them and a trash truck! I think the last vehicle was an ambulance with Santa and Mrs. Claus. I watched from my end of the street to the next block where they went past with horns and sirens on. No marching bands, floats or hoopla like usual. They did it to honor the emergency workers and first responders. I just hope people were out along the parade route to wave.

Now I'm wondering if the annual Santa on the fire engine visit to all the streets in the borough will happen. He usually hands out candy canes...not sure that will happen.

Oh, well...hopefully next year will be more normal.

Continue to stay safe and enjoy this Thanksgiving week!

Keep movin'.Keep movin'.

Good Monday morning to everyone on the Front Porch! It was not a good weekend for football here in Wisconsin with both the Green Bay Packers  and the University of Wisconsin both lost their games.

It was a cold weekend weather wise with temperatures in the upper 30's and windy again. This week we will have temps in the low 40's and warming to the upper 40's later in the week. We have a good chance of rain/snow tonight.

Good a lioncat.gifmorning, Peepers!

It's been a topsy turvy weather week here.  Early last week we were having temps in the 60s and  low 70s.  But those temps were fast fleeting.  Afterwards, we surfed between the 30s, 40s, and 50s.  So when we went back up to the high 60s on Friday, I went out and mowed my backyard--mowing all of the leaves I could reach and raking the rest.  It took me about two hours to get that job done an by the time I finished, it was dark.  I intended to attack the front yard with the same fervor the next day--Saturday.  But when my eyes opened that morning, my body met me with anger and resistance.  It said "No more today!"  And so all I could do was literally roll out of bed to the bathroom, then to the kitchen for a bottled water and two Aleve pain relievers and then back to bed.  I slept and slept and my body moaned even while in sleep.  Maybe next year, I will hire a yard service to do that job like you @catwoman500.  I do so enjoy working in the yard.  But maybe the fall clean-up would be best left to the professionals.😊

Late Saturday night it rained and rained.  And then Sunday it snowed all day long, but when I looked out this morning I was happy to see barely a dusting of snow on the grass and the rooftops.  Ahhhh, the wonders on fall in the Mitten!

Enjoy the day, Everyone!  It's that time....

Good Thursday morning to everyone on the Front Porch! We are deeper into hibernation here in Madison, Wisconsin in some areas and yet in some areas like my hometown I hear that mask wearing is a very low percentage of the people. Our Hospital Covid-19 areas are full in our three hospitals here in Madison. Our state legislators are challenging the Governor's power to extend the mask wearing mandate in the State Supreme Court.  My thoughts go back to the stage play I saw " Stop the World  I want to get off " in the 1960's.

The Drinking parties on the States colleges and university campuses in early September created hot spots around the state. The UW Madison's football team had to forfeit a couple of games because of a Covid-19 outbreak among the teams players and coaches.

So much for being the biggest whiner on the Front Porch this morning! Please be safe and be well!

Happy Saturday, Porch Peeps!

I hope everyone is safe, happy and healthy. We are having a couple of days of mild temps. Highs in the 60's yesterday and today. I was able to get the porch cleaned and today I put the covers on the furniture. Turned off the outside water and stored the hose. I think I'm pretty well set.

The lawn guys came today and cleaned up all the leaves and did a final mowing, too.

Thursday was my day to bite on some yucky stuff to make the mold for my crown. So so glad this implant process is almost over.

Now I'm ready to relax for a bit before I move on to other chores. Think I'll play a game of Just Words.

You all take care now!

Sunday afternoon 29* and clouding up, rain or snow, I know not what’s coming.

Think the heat wave for now is done, parkas out and fall jacket is going in closet.

PT is done, now it’s merely exercises, and trying to find my weights, bands, etc. It’s either that or my old Sap gloves from PD circa70’s.Lead shot filled.

I’ve seen them but, where?

Now to clean contacts and heads for some one’s Sansui?
Idle hands and all that stuff🤣

♫ All the leaves are brown, and the sky is blue [right now it is].

I've been for a walk [with the furkids] on a windy day. ♫

(Apologies to the Mamas & Papas.)

Nippy, windy day here in VA.  At least the wind is blowing most of the leaves off my deck.  Other day, I was driving down the road leaving a veritable trail of blowing leaves from the back of my pick-up.  🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁  (Surprised I didn't get stopped for littering or obscuring vision of following vehicles. 😉)

Been decorating the town/shopping centers for Christmas.  Not that many centers this year and nothing new; just those already locked in on budgets/contracts.  Small crew.  All outside work.  Overnight when everything is closed.  Rarely in proximity with one another.  Yet all of us wearing masks.  Some concern on whether we will be able to do teardown on schedule depending on where we're at in this pandemic and what is considered essential business, etc.  But, everything all sparkly and Christmas-y for what businesses remain open.

Hi, Peeps!

@MsStretch …yeah, 2020 has been chaotic and crazy, so why should football be any different? LOL

We’ve had very early Xmas decorations this year in our little town, too. We have an annual 2 hour Xmas parade the Sunday before Thanksgiving that usually goes from one end of town to the other. People from all over the area come to our town and gather in huge crowds along the street to enjoy it, but this year because of the pandemic, the parade will be winding through neighborhoods to avoid gathering the big crowds. I looked at the parade route, and find it hard to believe it will only take 2 hours. Although I used to enjoy the parade when I could walk down to the main street, I haven’t been able to do that for years. Luckily (or unluckily?) this year my street isn’t on the route, so I’ll hear it, but would have to walk up a block to see it and it’s not possible for me to walk that far or stand that long.

Oh, Last night in the shower after I read your post, California Dreaming was an earwig! Couldn’t stop singing that song!

@RosemaryF433825 ...About the 2 burgers a year…LOL. I don’t cook much for myself other than veggies and salmon. I never was a big fan of red meat other than ground beef. I guess you could say I’m more of a pescatarian. I also don’t eat at fast food places, so the 2 hamburgers/year happen when my friends and I go out on Memorial Day and Labor Day to an Italian bistro type place that makes a bunch of different burgers. Those 2 holidays seem like good times for a burger. None of us have grills anymore either.

Off to the dentist to be fitted for the crown that goes on the implant. Finally this is coming closer to the end! 😺

Good morning, we’re having a heat wave today, went from 8* to 20* today.

Off to pt, survived my first hike last night at 8*, and didn’t feel like old man. My back didn’t hurt.👍

PT’s working, might be able to survive the next trip to camp, without Bourbon pain relief. Or sleeping next to woodstove.

Enjoy it’s off to happy land.

It is still quite beautiful here in NW Ga,  sunny days and cool nights.   Looks like we picked our last batch of peppers for the season yesterday.  Nice long growing season this year.

Last week was marred by an unforeseen trip to the dentist for a broken bonding on a veneer.  Should not complain,  it did not hurt  but it was expensive.   Trying to recover from vet expenses for doggie eyes.   She managed to get a superficial scratch to other eye.  Cortisone shot give to keep from itching and looks like she is on the mend.

Hello, Porch Peeps,

I had a lot to catch up on with you all. Just finished reading a few days’ worth of posts. AARP Notifications are coming in, but kind of sporadically.  Chilly here in the burbs. They say a flake or 2 might fall in the next county. It’s 36 here and may get close to 50. Sun is trying to emerge.

Weekend was uneventful…same old; same old.  Eagles lost but are still in first place with a losing record…ridiculous!

Trying to make a decision about Thanksgiving. Leaning towards going up to my friends’ house as usual, but officials are not advising it. There would only be 4 of us this year and I have been up there twice this summer and have been in their company, so am really not that concerned…still, little devils keep poking at me saying not to go. As of right now. I said I’d be there.

@LaDolceVita …love that you were able to still “harvest” the last of your “crops.” Sorry about the doggie’s eyes.

Nice to see some new faces here, too Welcome to @RosemaryF433825 and @Shari...can't seem to get the @ thing to show your tag.

Well, I don’t want to go into detail, but have any of you had to do the at home Cologuard test? Just completed that nasty task this AM and it’s on the porch for UPS to pick up. Holy cow! Guess it's better than a colonoscopy, but, UGH!

Was going to call UPS directly, but started laughing thinking about what I'd have to tell them they would be picking up. 🙀 LOL!

You all enjoy your Tuesday. Continue to stay safe!

@catwoman500 , about those Eagles.  Yes, they're in first place, but Giants have 3 wins too.  Not to mention Football Team and Cowboys breathing down their necks tied for 2nd place with only one less win each. (Sounds better than saying last place. 😄)

It was a cold weekend whether wise with rain and high winds again. This week we will have temps in the low 40's and warming to the upper 50's by Thursday with little chance of rain.
