Looks like an old damaged canister vacuum.  But, admittedly, I am no expert on vacuum cleaners. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

Actually, I have a friend that makes his teenage daughter use one just like this to cut their lawn (it is pretty tiny) .  He still sharpens the blades and keeps it in good order for her to do a good job.  Guess it is good exercise too.

Why did powdered drinks become so popular?

Powdered drinks gained popularity due to convenience, affordability, and long shelf life. They were often marketed as an easy and efficient way to quench thirst or get a quick drink fix. Some popular powdered drink mixes like Kool-Aid and Tang were also heavily advertised and became synonymous with fun, colorful drinks. Their popularity peaked in the mid-20th century, particularly among children and in situations where access to fresh ingredients was limited, like camping or traveling.

What's the history of the Roger Williams Inn?

The Roger Williams Inn has a rich history dating back to the 1930s. Originally known as the Lawsonia Hotel, it was built in 1930 by the H.O. Stone Development Company of Chicago as a luxury resort on the shores of Green Lake, Wisconsin. The hotel featured 70 rooms, extravagant dining halls, ballrooms, and an inviting lobby. It served as both a hotel and clubhouse for the nearby Links Golf Course, attracting renowned entertainers like Kathleen Hepburn and Spencer Tracy.

Key Events in the Roger Williams Inn's History:

- 1930: The Lawsonia Hotel opened its doors, becoming a popular destination for luxury and outdoor recreation.
- 1943: The Northern Baptist Convention purchased the property, renaming it Roger Williams Inn after the pastor of the first Baptist church in the United States.
- 1944: The inn began hosting conferences and events, solidifying its purpose as a gathering place for Christian groups.
- 1956: Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. spoke at the Green Lake Conference Center, which is closely tied to the inn's history.
- 2013: A major renovation project was announced, aiming to restore the inn to its original 1930s grandeur while incorporating modern functionality ยน ยฒ ยณ.

Today, the Roger Williams Inn is part of the Green Lake Conference Center, a Christ-centered environment that welcomes groups for spiritual growth, leadership training, and community building. The inn's historic significance and picturesque surroundings make it an ideal destination for those seeking a unique blend of nostalgia and spiritual rejuvenation.

This was one of my favorite places on Green Lake. My family had a summer cottage on the lake which they bought in 1941 and sold it in the 1981..

Now. days it is owned by Baptist church and features two great golf course which I played several times over the years.

It hosts Conferences year around now days.Baptist assembly grounds vary in size, with major, historic locations featuring extensive, expansive acreage. The Green Lake Conference Center in Wisconsin covers 900 acres, while the Falls Creek Baptist Assembly Grounds in Oklahoma has grown from its original 160 acres to accommodate 145 cabins and a 100,000 sq ft convention center.

Detail, detail, detail. Amazing to see the detail that went into building the State Capital Building in Madison. Wisconsin. It was completed in 1917. The door knobs here are made of brass and feature the State of Wisconsin Seal. These are on the outside, west end of the building.

Here is one to remember -

My goldfish froze in their bowl.  And it got so cold in our house, the water in our toilet bowl froze.

About to get another one - but I am pretty sure we should be better prepared although I am NOT sleeping in the room next to my neighbors pine trees - mine have been removed,

Good luck everybody in the track -
