Yes!  Mine does that!  Not as elaborate as this picture, though.  As well as strip-malls do it on the poles of the parking lots area.  Very festive.

Christmas wasn't put out until the day after T/giving. All the yard decorations were made of wood.

And best of all, everyone said "Merry Christmas."

My wood Santa is still standing after all these years, and just needed a bit of touch-up paint !

Itโ€™s now after Halloween it seems when things get put out in the stores for the holiday season.  I dont mind saying Happy Holidays as it reflects our wonderful melting pot of holidays around the time.

I bought one after I go married. And yes,the grandkids loved to roll it up and down. Some things never change.

So true!

Loved those, but we never had one. Would play with them whenever we could go to a store. (Then get shushed away by an employee.)

Social Butterfly

Nice!  Fun part as a kid rolling those up and down

I have my motherโ€™s old one still, and tend to prefer it over the newer ones I was given over the years.  That, and a potato masher that were hers are some of my most used items from her .  I decided not to take the old Pressure cooker that was her motherโ€™s though!

Edit to add โ€” As a kid we used to put this on our head and pretend we were space creatures!

Hard to have pasta without it.. Thanks Dave

Anyone else remember these?  Or the church choir?

Yep, I remember them. Also remember some melted unrecognizable globs in the Christmas box. ๐Ÿ˜Š

I have no clue, but it reminds me of those things you stick in a turkey and when the turkey is done the knob pops .  The other guess was a TB test syringe, but that had multiple points if i remember

As I was thinking about making paper chains and snowflakes, I fondly remembered this old magazine.  It was always chock full of creative ways to use construction paper, pipe cleaners, Dixie cups, toilet paper rolls and scraps into countless items.   It kept me busy for hours, and I remember eagerly awaiting its delivery.  โ€ฆ.those certainly were simpler daysโ€ฆ.

Does anyone else remember when these were atop Christmas trees?

We had one when I was very young, but it was replaced by an angel.

I remember seeing those on other peopleโ€™s trees, but we usually had an angel or star, sometimes making the stars.

Oh, I love that you made the stars!   I still enjoy showing children how to make paper snowflakes to display on windows.

This reminded me of our 4th grade teacher using the snowflakes we made as a social studies lesson: something like "just like people, no two are alike but so beautiful in their own way..." wow, flash back 60+ years!

Thanks for the lovely reminder...
