We have one, but I tend to like using a wire whisk, fork, or spoon.

 I remember those. We finally had one at one point. Mostly it was using a spoon. 😊

Lee, I was just about to write, “Remember it? I still have it!” when I saw your post.

I was gifted with a new wrench and socket set a few years ago, but I usually use the one that was my Dad’s which is very similar to the one Dave posted.

I will have to admit that I have never seen one of these.  In fact, I don’t even remember having toast as a kid - bread for breakfast was biscuits and for dinner, cornbread.  Did I even have a sandwich as a kid - yes, a tomato sandwich - toasted, never.  

Guess I lead a sheltered life in some respects.  This will be a good one to add to my grandkid’s 1923-1973 What’s This Game.

We didn't have a toaster, but what was done was, make the sandwich then put it in a skillet on the stove and flip it one time.

Another thing that was done, put some butter on bread, put in oven and let it melt.

  a toaster works for me.. saw one in an old hunting camp looked something like that..I was going to guess something to take wrinkles out of clothes...

I think you are right. Think I saw something like it at an old soda fountain where they toasted bread for their sandwiched.

    I have this toaster!  My grandmother was going to throw it out when she bought a “ fancy new one”, but 10 year-old me asked her if I could keep it if I swore I wouldn’t plug it in, and of course she let me do so.   I’ve never did plug it in because it has what I believe is a 90 year old electrical cord, but it sits on a shelf and just a glance at it always reminds me of sitting at her kitchen table as she cooked breakfast for me over 60 years ago.

We never got enough snow to buy one. Plus the fact that we were in the Delta and not any hill to speak of to slide down. Now what some of the older (not smartest) boys did was build a square box and hook it to the back of someone's car. It would hold about 6-7 people but after a few times around the block it would be empty.

 went thru a couple of those back when.. Trees around our sled runs proved that the flexible flyer wasn't near as flexible as we thought..

     I still have the Flexible Flyer that gave me hours of delight as a child.

      Due to how lovingly padded and bundled up I was by my Mom before being sent out to conquer snowbanks and hills, I don't remember any bumps, bruises or mishaps from sledding. (Roller skating, ice skating, bike riding, horseback riding - yes! 🤭 - but sledding - nope!)

      I do remember being forced to come back indoors to “warm up” despite my doggedly insisting, through chattering teeth, that I wasn’t cold at all!

You folks had a much better drive-in then I did. Ours charged by the person, no deals or anything. Of course they never checked the trunk.😀😂

 @LisaS961881 Those look kinda like the old speakers to put in the car window at the drive-in movies. If so, I remember trying to put those up and get the sound right.

  Lee, Vexed, and MsStretch,

     While they do look like those old CB radio thingamajigs, those are indeed those clunky drive-in movie speakers !  

      And what an experience it was!  The drive-in charged by car, rather than by individual, so we would bring a friend and pile in the station wagon with pillows and blankets.  And yup, we’ve come such a long way since these, but it still beats watching a movie on your phone!  😉 🍿
