I still have one of these!  Laborious to open a can, but when in a pinch, it works.

Looks like a tiny can opener.. We used to call them a P-38

Where did that name come from?

Most of the time I know what he is posting but this time I was stumped until you and others replyed.

@papawofboo , P-38s were issued with military c-rations back in the day, but with the advent of MREs, they were no longer needed.

We had tons of fun with these!  I remember wearing the key on a string around my neck while skating.

They were going to teach me to skate, ok. We had a long hall in the house. They put them on me, got me up and pushed............fell down, twisted both ankles. Never again.

โ€ฆ.๐Ÿซค Oh, I can imagine!
Me? I had a โ€œrun inโ€ with the curb once wearing these..  I think the curb won because I needed 12 stitches and it appeared unscathed.

These things kept the Band-Aid company in business.

Please do NOT remind me - I was so little in grade school that they made me take my 1st grade desk all the way thru the 7th grade and tried to get me to take it even further up but I pitched a fit.  The reason was that it was bad for my feet to not rest on the floor all day - not good for them just to dangle.

Well, that might be a reason but it did NOT measure up against my inferiority.

I am still very little BUT I now live and drive in the oversized - so yes, it did give me a size complex that I still have to this day.  Maybe my feet just need BIG places and things.

ITโ€˜S ALWAYS SOMETHING . . . . .. . . .

I remember that I wasnโ€™t allowed to buy these.  โ€ฆ. But I did try one at a friendโ€™s house, and it tasted like a Necco Wafer. ๐Ÿ˜Š

A pack had to last a week. First step on way to look cool, so we thought.

We had 5 of them at the store.

Friday at noon was payday and getting off work for the week for the plants in town.

From noon Friday till closing Sat. they were all going full speed, and I mean full speed.

Believe it or not this was one of the fun things for "the good ole days."

I remember when the cheeseburgers were 20โ‚ต and plain burgers were 15โ‚ต.  Fries and sodas (one size) were 10โ‚ต and I forget what the milkshakes were (maybe 20โ‚ต?) and that was the whole menu at McD's.

Back in the "good ole days" everything wasn't fun. This is one of them.
