If you remember 45 (not to mention 33โ…“ and 78), you are old. ๐Ÿ‘ต

I remember that I wasnโ€™t allowed to buy these.  โ€ฆ. But I did try one at a friendโ€™s house, and it tasted like a Necco Wafer. ๐Ÿ˜Š

A pack had to last a week. First step on way to look cool, so we thought.

We had 5 of them at the store.

Friday at noon was payday and getting off work for the week for the plants in town.

From noon Friday till closing Sat. they were all going full speed, and I mean full speed.

Believe it or not this was one of the fun things for "the good ole days."

I remember when the cheeseburgers were 20โ‚ต and plain burgers were 15โ‚ต.  Fries and sodas (one size) were 10โ‚ต and I forget what the milkshakes were (maybe 20โ‚ต?) and that was the whole menu at McD's.

Back in the "good ole days" everything wasn't fun. This is one of them.

We used to just take the ribbon of caps and pop them with rocks.  Sorta like bubble wrap. ๐Ÿ˜

Oh the smell and freedom of those.  And then when feeling especially adventurous, we'd take an entire roll and hit it with a hammer for the biggest bang.

โ€ฆ..Yes!

We would flatten the roll out on the sidewalk or curb, and smash each โ€œspotโ€ with a rock - - just for a whiff of that acrid smell, a glimpse of a spark or a tendril of white smoke, but most of all, for that  โ€œBANG!โ€

โ€ฆ..talk about a perfect summer day - doing this, playing kickball, spotting a praying mantis, or a snake sunning itself on a rock, or a pair of toads, hearing the sound of the Good Humor truck, then patting the quarter in your pocket in anticipation, racing bikes, โ€ฆ.all capped with a dusk filled with lightning bugs and hand-held sparklers !
