I used the money from the soda bottles I returned to buy baseball collector cards.

This is still standard on the squarish cans of corned beef.  My grandson was a real finicky eater at 2 years old and one day, watching SpongeBob, he  asked for a Krabby Patty.  So I put a slice of corned beef on a Hawaiian Bun (which I smooshed down so it would fit in his mouth)  Put a little Mayo on the bun and gave it to him, telling him it was his own Krabby Patty.  Gawd, that was our goto for years.  Nobody else ever made him a Krabby Patty.  Everyone know that was 'our' thing.  After a few times on a whim, I asked him what color he wanted for the dressing using mustard, ketchup, mayo, pureed relish,  and a small bottle of blue cheese dressing with a few drops of blue food coloring. With those we could mix and get pink or orange, so he always got a choice of color which made him more invested in the meal I think.  Good Times.

Do you remember Bama Jelly. That is where our tea glasses came from. I'm pretty sure my granddaddy used a Ball canning jar.

Yea, they could do some damage to your shin. Talk about hurt, let your foot slip off in a high speed race. You girls didn't have that bar like us boys did.๐Ÿ™„

My shins took a few hits when I was riding my bike.  Ankles too, come to think of it.

That one took me awhile to recognize until you mentioned shins and pain - then I got it.

Take the stuff out of basket, ring up, slide down counter to a person who bagged them for you and took to the car. It was faster then because now you don't have baggers, and the cashier is talking or texting.
