PRIVATE MESSAGING

@AARPConsumerCare 

i do not have the envelope icon to use to send private messages. There is no reference to enable private messages in settings. Enable Private message tab is missing. 
can you suggest a fix

  I haven't figured out how to create a new message, but once you get there you can reply to @AARPConsumerCare

How Do I Enable Private Messages in the AARP Online Community?

The AARP Online Community features a private messenger that allows you to send and receive private notes to other community members. 

To use this service, you'll need to ensure it's enabled. 

 

  1. Log in using your aarp.org online account at community.aarp.org 
  2. Click on My Settings in the top right corner of the community 
  3. Select the Preferences Tab 
  4. Select the Private Messenger Tab 
  5. Ensure the box labeled Turn On Private Messages is checked
  6. Click Save

A new message to somebody you are conversing with within the private messenger OR somebody you want to send a new message to on this board?

 Using Private Messenger. A few people have message me. I received emails stating they messaged me, but I couldn't respond via email and their original messages were not shown on the Messenger Page. Consumer Care responded to a post on this board telling me to contact them via Private Message. The same thing happened: I couldn't respond to the email and all I could locate was an old message on the private message page. I used the reply function, on the old message, to respond.

they are suppose to be avail at 8 am M-F ET
