GREAT COVERS OF YOUR FAVORITE SONGS

For many an original song that they love cannot and will not ever be duplicated by a cover, but there are many songs that have been done equally (debatebly) well by others..

So do you have favorites?

What are your favorite covers of favorite songs?

Nothing Else Matters - Agal the Bard (Bardcore), Metallica cover

The Final Countdown - Agal the Bard (Bardcore), Europe cover

Temple Of The King - Agal the Bard (Bardcore), Rainbow cover, & the hat! 😸

So I think “bardcore” is his music style, and Agal the Bard is his artist name.

Checked them out. Bardcore? Who/What are these guys? A real band, or session players having fun? An interesting take. Don't know what to make of it yet.

@dl73698250 He’s a one man band, multi-instrumentalist, playing authentic medieval instruments. “Bardcore” is apparently a genre of music that interprets modern pop, rock, or metal into medieval styled music. Neoclassical, gothic and fantasy metal tend to work really well for obvious reasons.

Thanks for those @MaVolta . I really enjoyed his music. Always appreciate multi-instrumentalists too. He did some System of a Down covers too that were good.Haven't listen to all his stuff yet. I do love the hat. 🐱

Did not know SOAD, so I had to check out the originals. I liked them, too.

I also found him on Apple Music.

Oh my! The Easybeats song, it’s been eons since I heard that one! Nice cover by Frampton. Noticed in the credits that Steve Lukather is on guitar and backing vocals.

Herman's Hermit's? I noticed a 2002 date on it. Original Hermit's? Hard to believe they're still playing. They're from the 1960's. Still sound good. Big departure from their bubble gum rock (which I like).

@dl73698250  It was Peter Noone, I don't know how much of the group are left or if any of the hermits were on the record. Peter Noone is still touring (currently has a lineup for 2022-2023) as Herman's Hermits, like other bands that continue with the name no matter if it is the complete original line-up or not. He heard about the concept project (released in 2002) and wanted to do it as did the others on the album that were recruited.

@dl73698250 , in our cases it was a made up word of "Who would have thought that", regarding that song was unusual to hear from Peter Noone/Herman's Hermits. We can spell it any way we wish. I supposed we could have spelled it that way or any other close way.

We knew what we meant. 😊

Idioms can become fairly standard, such as: "Who'd a thunk it".

But as far as I am concerned, if you get your point across, who cares about proper. I may not use the best words or even proper punctuation.

Whooda Thunk is a alternative/indie musician (that I have not listened to).

They have (at least) two versions of this song performed live, both very different interpretations, and both are amaaazzing!  Gotta love these guys!

Downtown Train - Rod Stewart  (Tom Waits cover)

Tom Waits original - https://youtu.be/qWDJIwqCXi4

I never cared for Tom Waits vocals, but he wrote some great songs. Rod Stewart made it famous, Bob Seger made it cool! Edge to Seger on this one for me. 😎

I know what you mean about his voice.  But, I can't really imagine somebody else doing this song: TOM WAITS- COLD COLD GROUND https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P4UqE5c8G6E

It's kinda like Bob Dylan; he doesn't have the greatest voice either, or Ozzy Osborne. But, I wouldn't want do without their music.

"Run Runaway" * Slade [83]

The Scottish glam group sampled a 1850 church hymn written by Andrew Young [1838] arranged by L B Breedlove in [1858] called "There is a Happy Land". and came away with a #1 hit. I kid you not...........

Well, what do you know? Great Big Sea also did this song (not a rock version; more of a folk/culture song).

Oh yeah, that song! They (Knickerbockers) sounded so much like The Beatles. I noticed someone wrote in the YT comments that John Lennon heard it and made the remark, “ I don’t remember recording that.” 😂

Surprised they didn't do more Beatles covers.
