At someone else’s suggestion, I used another browser other than Chrome. It still did not work. When I called Customer Service last week, I was told to unblock intrusive ads in my Chrome browser (didn’t make sense, but i did it). It still doesn’t work.

Clearly almost a year later they are still doing NOTHING to fix this error. I have been getting it all day. Called into AARP and they acted like they didn't know what was happening and tried blaming me for maxing out on gift cards this month (I've only purchased 7 premium cards and limit is supposed to be 25) and then they blamed my credit card name and address not matching up (also wrong since it worked a few days ago using the same cc info). Why has this not been escalated and fixed?! I was told 3-5 business days and someone would reach out to assist, however, my cruise is on Monday so that is zero help to me now.

Oh no! This isn’t good at all! A lot of people including myself have had this happen. It’s unfortunate and unacceptable from what is supposed to be a reputable organization. December 15th I too became a part of the mystery error and funds pending( still) I will dispute it due to the fact I have no merchandise (Carnival Gift Cards totaling 360.00)
I wish you the best of luck and for all those who are dealing with this.

Hello yes it was resolved after I clearly told them this was basically a scam. After doing much research online I found that this has been happening for years now. Some people losing money never to be refunded or recovered. Carnival and any other cruise line has nothing to do with this at all. So, I’m trying to get my money back they cannot help. It’s AARP who’s responsible for the glitches that occur.
I called the customer service line and continued until I finally got someone. This took me over 4 weeks about and we were about to embark on our cruise with carnival. The funds in my account were pending for something I never received. Long story short Carnival advised me to order from their website and I did got my gift certificates within seconds! As the saying goes you pay for what you get. It was resolved here with AARP they released my money back to my bank account with a nudge of me seeking legal. Best of luck. Remember go to the actual website of any cruise line to get your certificates not on AARP. Have an amazing day and week ahead.

How sad is this that you had to go to such lengths to get their attention. I too am caught in the hell that is attempting to purchase Carnival gift cards for an upcoming cruise with a looming deadline for payment. I've received the same red message approximately 50x - luckily no attempt has shown up as pending on cc - I've contacted customer service and do have a case but I'm not holding my breath that this will ever be resolved. My card was sure accepted just fine for the membership not 15 minutes before attempting to purchase the cards (which was the main reason for joining ) I've:
- verified my contact info on my card exactly matches my info in AARP info
- tried different cards
- tried 3 different browsers - cleared cache, cookies pop ups
- tried on desktop PC, iphone app, ipad app
- tried in am, midday, pm
Yes, Carnival offers gift cards but not at the 10% discount which for the price of a cruise is quite a savings -
anyone had any luck lately? What is sad is that AARP is supposed to be the benchmark in safe transactions and keeping your transactions safe and whoever is running their rewards program is clearly dropping the ball. Ant the fact that this has gone on for YEARS is unacceptable.
I'm going to continue to hope but I doubt I'll ever even be contacted by the "escalation department" - Any tips appreciated or if you are aware of any other reputable sites with discount gift cards - please share.

We've given up on purchasing the Carnival gift cards from AARP because it didn't work despite their numerous "escalating" attempts. How much more can you escalate if nobody is doing a thing about it on their end? I would like to know who actually had success purchasing the gift cards?
