Posting good news!  I got my Starbucks gift card tonight (Tuesday evening).  I am glad that AARP is honoring their commitment to fulfill the redemption orders.  I hope everyone who redeemed will receive it soon.

Father has got his gift card but I haven't and I redeem for it the night it came out while he did his saturday morning.

Upon reviewing the transcript of my phone conversation with the AARP rep,  she indicated that it is most likely that I would be refunded the 23,000 points for the Starbucks gift card redemption because there was a technical contract issue,  and AARP would be unable to fulfill the redemption.  It will take 2-3 days for the points to be refunded, however, she was not certain if the redemption will be reset.  It appears many of us will be disappointed.  This "Fun Fridays" turned out to be not so fun after all.  I hope AARP will give us back the redemption.

I am on the phone with the AARP rep, and she indicated that they are aware of the issue.  Because of a technical issue, not everyone who redeemed points for the Starbucks gift card will receive the gift card.   It is dependent on when the gift card was redeemed.   If you don't get the gift card, the 23,000 points will be refunded, HOWEVER, I asked if I will lose the redemption for the month.  The rep was not sure if the redemption will be reset.

Hi @JoLo49 , when this happened before and the points were put back to people they did lose one of the 3 allowed redemptions for points in the process.  Sucks.

Thanks, @SereneSeagull for letting me know that we will lose the redemption if points are refunded.  Doesn't seem fair since this is a technical issue on AARP's side of the fence.  The "Fun Fridays" was not so fun after all.

@SereneSeagull  I hope the redemption is reset.... the AARP rep seemed pretty certain that my points will be refunded and that I won't get the gift card.

Yes, Iโ€™m sure your points will be refunded, itโ€™s the redemption allowance for points that will be down one, if itโ€™s anything like what happened not that long ago. Crossing fingers theyโ€™ll change their mind this time

I hope AARP will do the right thing and refund the points and the redemption.  It was AARP's fault for not ensuring there were enough gift cards to fulfill the redemption requests.

Called and talked to support. They told me it would be 2 or 3 days to get the card.  Don't use CHAT for this as they kept telling me this was an instant win and I did not win, which is incorrect. Hope this helps.

I hope you will get the card, @JoeeBear .  I was told that there was a tech issue and not everyone who redeemed the points will receive the gift card.  It will be dependent on the "timing" when the gift card was redeemed.  We will either get the gift card or the points refunded.

Sounds like it depends on who you talk to as to what the story is.  Well, hopefully all that redeemed, either get their cards or points AND redemption back.

II called AARP Rewards this AM; theyโ€™โ€™re aware of the problem and are working on it. Said I should receive an email about it some time this AM; so far no AARP email

It is sad that AARP has had the rewards for years, yet we still have problems on a regular basis. Merkel needs to step up their game or resign.

As others have written below, my points for the Starbucks card were taken out immediately but I still havenโ€™t received if (I keep checking every few hrs!) If I havenโ€™t received it by tomorrow 8AM EDT I will call AARP Rewards

Iโ€™ve had to call before, and my experience was fast.  Some have had a totally different experience, I understand.   As long as customer service can see the transaction on your dashboard, and with this many people being affected, I think it should be fixed when they get all the calls.

Glad to hear you will be getting the Starbucks gift card.  Unfortunately, I didn't get the confirming email, so I probably won't get the card.  The AARP rep I talked to was pretty certain that my points will be refunded in 2-3 business days.  Thanks for sharing your email.
