@LeeS4949 , yes! Swanson, werenโ€™t they? In those aluminum (tin?) trays with even a dessert. Gawd, they were terrible! ๐Ÿ˜ I remember the mashed potatoes were pure grit.

@SereneSeagull , you kept hoping the peel-back would reveal something tasty and appetizing, but deep down, we all knew better.

Ah, well, we could always dream.

And banging on the console when neither the ears or foil did the trick!

Most of the cars in town had one of these and a can or two of oil in the trunk.

Not only on Sunday but in a lot of the smaller towns they closed on Wed. at noon.

Sunday's were mainly spent going to church and with family. Now Wed. was for fun, golf, fishing. tennis, water skiing, etc. This made Thursday be "hang over" day๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ˜„

There was a time when Mom, Grandma, and Great Grandma had one of these in the sewing basket next to her chair.  Whether it was while listening to the radio, enjoying the logs burning in the fireplace, or watching Ed Sullivan, she always had mending or hemming to do.

I canโ€™t agree more!  Thank you Dave for taking the time to share these with all of us.

My personal experience is that many of these photos help transform somewhat fuzzy memories into sharp focus - much like how eating a grape popsicle always reminds me of slurping down a Bob Joy Cup from the Good Humor truck over sixty years agoโ€ฆโ€ฆ
