After its first job had played out it then became a door stop.

 During my single digit years I wore one on each hip to the Roy Rogers double feature every Saturday..

We used to just take the ribbon of caps and pop them with rocks.  Sorta like bubble wrap. 😁

Sure did, had a belt with 2 holsters, also had a rifle.

Did the hammer thing also

Oh the smell and freedom of those.  And then when feeling especially adventurous, we'd take an entire roll and hit it with a hammer for the biggest bang.

…..Yes! 

        We would flatten the roll out on the sidewalk or curb, and smash each “spot” with a rock - - just for a whiff of that acrid smell, a glimpse of a spark or a tendril of white smoke, but most of all, for that  “BANG!”

…..talk about a perfect summer day - doing this, playing kickball, spotting a praying mantis, or a snake sunning itself on a rock, or a pair of toads, hearing the sound of the Good Humor truck, then patting the quarter in your pocket in anticipation, racing bikes, ….all capped with a dusk filled with lightning bugs and hand-held sparklers !

Looks like a single blade pocketknife, use to whittle a lot with mine, but never could make anything except a spear.

Remember when we did Air Raid Drills in School back in the 1950's

We didn't have that type of desk, ours were just for one person. So, we had to go into the hall.

…..and into the early 60s too!  Geez, I remember those drills too!  (And the boys wearing ties and the teachers checking that our skirts were not too far above our knees! 🙃)
