Gaining remote access to an iPhone requires either an app to be installed or a mobile device management policy. If itโs an app, you need to find it and remove it. It will likely be listed under
Settings > Privacy and Security > Tracking
If itโs a profile, it will be under Settings > General > VPN and Device Management.
Itโs also possible your phone isnโt compromised at all, and they instead have gained access to your iCloud account. In that case, look for any devices you donโt recognize under Settings > iCloud and remove them.
Another step could be changing your email password. They could potentially be using that to log into your devices.
Enable multi-factor authentication for all of your accounts as well.
Also, many people use the same password for email as they do for other things. If that is the case, get a password manager like 1Password and have a separate password for each account you have. Enable multi-factor authentication for your accounts as well.
If you use gmail, you can revoke devices from your trusted list also. Other vendors may have a similar process.
If a factory reset doesnโt stop someone from accessing your device, it likely means the hacker installed something deeperโlike firmware-level malware or has access to your router/network.(RBT) Itโs like locking your door, but they still have a secret tunnel. You should change all your passwords from a safe device, reset your router, scan devices with offline bootable antivirus, and consider flashing the firmware. If all else fails, take the device to a trusted tech expert.
I no longer use the Windows computer or an android phone and they get into my Apple phone now as well.. the list is very long of all the detail I have of what was done. if you have any forensic or cyber security, someone who is well-versed in networking, let me know. Iโm in Bergen County New Jersey and prefer to do things in person. Thank you for your response.
I have always used optimum or Verizon router and thatโs probably not a good idea. I will probably look into getting my own router, Do you recommend a router that is very secure? Not sure how much it will help because I know they have buddies in the police department! Right now Iโm looking for a lawyer in Bergen County who deals with digital invasion of privacy. I would think they have someone they used to review my devices. Thank you for your comments though.
