HAS AARP HAD SOME INTERNET ISSUES LATELY????

During the last couple of weeks, sometimes when I google AARP, the #1 search item that comes up IS NOT  the AARP OFFICIAL SITE as usually appears as #1, it is something that I am not sure whether it is AARP or not. In fact, I can't even find the site described as its "official" site as I normally find in the #1 spot.

I know that the spot you possess on a google search is determined by amount of "clicks" to your site so these events seem strange unless AARP is having some kind of issue with its site.

Has anybody else run into this issue?

@nctarheel

To get to the opening page I use AARP.org

If you are using Google then If you have any AARP places booked marked in your favorites - those will come up 1st.  Also clear your history of any place you have been under the AARP auspices.

If I just put in AARP, it will bring up the top selection results for AARP - top specified either by search results or by place purchase with Google.

When I do it - search AARP in Google, and have no booked marked places in

y favorites - the 1st search results that come up is for membership, then some high ranked sponsors - followed by the create and account or sign in page.

What are you getting?

I use private browsing so I don’t run a history.

IT‘S ALWAYS SOMETHING . . . . .. . . .

@GailL1 and @cat0w,

I get "aarpcommunitychallengesecure-platform". I don't click on it because it looks strange.

I scroll through pages of other sites and cannot find "AARP OFFICIAL SITE"

Again, this doesn't happen every visit.

I was hoping a MODERATOR could tell me what that strange site was and if anybody had run into this issue before, but I guess no one reads our comments anymore.

@nctarheel

What happens if you try other key words such as, AARP Official Site or AARP Home Page?

I don't know, @cat0w, because tonight it worked correctly and I got AARP OFFICIAL SITE.

Is this what you are looking for? AARP® Official Site - Join & Explore the Benefits? I have this saved in my favorites along with other links to items of interest from AARP.

It is the first shortcut in my Favorites Bar.

While that is the usual first site appearing when I search for AARP, the site occupying the first spot these several recent searches is not that at all. I realize I can designate a favorite but my inquiry was to find out why I am getting this alternate. Searching down the list of sites, when I get this alternate occupier of the first position, results in me not finding the official site you cite in your comment. It is just weird and doesn’t happen consistently or regularly.
