Can’t Connect HP DeskJet 3700 Printer to My Phone

Hi everyone, I’m having trouble connecting my HP DeskJet 3700 printer to my smartphone. I’ve tried using Wi-Fi and the HP Smart app, but my phone doesn’t seem to detect the printer at all.

Has anyone faced this issue before? Any simple steps or fixes would really help. Thanks in advance

This usually means the phone and printer are not meeting on the same Wi-Fi setup path. I would separate it into two checks: is the printer on Wi-Fi, and can the phone see printers at all?

1. Restart the phone and the printer.
2. Make sure the phone is on your home Wi-Fi, not cellular data and not a guest network.
3. Put the phone near the printer for setup.
4. Open HP Smart from the official app store and choose Add Printer.
5. If HP Smart says the printer needs setup mode, press the printer's wireless button until the wireless light blinks, then try Add Printer again.
6. If this is an iPhone, also try opening something simple like a note or photo, tap Share, then Print. If the printer does not appear there either, the printer is probably not on the same Wi-Fi as the phone.

I would avoid factory-resetting the printer until you know the Wi-Fi password. I would also avoid printer-support phone numbers from search results; use HP Smart or HP's official support site.

Helpful info to have.  Thank you.
Since her post was from February, I sure hope she got it hooked by now.

What phone do you have? Have you already checked the HP website to see if they have an app for connecting your printer to a phone?

For my Samsung S24+ phone and my printers I use the following apps. First, I have the Samsung Print app and then for each printer I use their apps. I have Epson iPrint and for my brother printer their app is iPrint&Scan.

Hadn’t done a phone before, but iPad recently.  I’m just going to make a stab in the dark, and ask if you did a complete shut off, ( I call it reboot) of the phone first?

Are you using AirPrint?  Some older printers may not have that feature.

When you have the document on your phone you want to print, are you choosing the “share” icon?  It looks like a square with an arrow at the top., then  choose print?
