Princess cruise gift cards

I heard that AARP offered a Princess cruise line Gift card. I am new to the website and App and have not seen an offer. Can anyone confirm if this offer is still available?

Is there a special mailing list for cruise cards or is it just Neweggs regular mailing list?

Thank you

Just part of neweggs regular mailing list.  Mostly computer products.  Most days 1 gift card of some sort.

NewEgg, TopCashBack, Swagbucks, Mypoints, InboxDollars, Upromise and even Amazon all have offered discounts of various amounts on newly issued Princess gift cards.

NewEgg had $500 Carnival earlier today, but had Princess just last week.  They had $500, $200, and $100 Princess e-GCs recently.

A website topcashback offers 6.9% back on Princess gift cards every day.  Click on GiftCards on the top line menu and the shopping button, then search for Princess.  Never had a problem with them. They occasionally run bonuses of $3 extra or so, sometimes as much as $5 in addition to the 6.9%.

A series of websites all owned by the same folks (Swagbucks, MyPoints, InboxDollars, and Upromise) all offer gift cards for sale.  But they only offer 5% back at the present time (I didn't check all, only one of them, but they generally offer the same)

Amazon offered a deal starting in the last day or two for $10 off if using your Discover card and rewards from your Discover card towards a $75 or more purchase.  Plus the Discover card itself is offering 5% rebate on up to $1500 in purchases at Amazon this quarter if you register.  The 5% bonus category spend as well as the $10 discount works on non-Amazon branded gift cards (in other words, any other gift card that Amazon sells directly).

Around Black Friday, I believe I've seen Princess themselves offer some sort of discount on gift cards.

So, there are actually many different ways of getting discounts on Princess gift cards, just not always as good or convenient as what AARP Rewards provided (at the height of the pandemic, AARP actually provided a 12% discount).

So extremely disappointed to find out today that the Princess Gift Cards are no longer available. This is the ONLY reason I joined a few months ago.  The rep I spoke with gave me the scripted answer, but I sure would like more of an explanation since Carnival and Holland America cards are still available and they are under the Carnival umbrella.  So extremely disappointed!

I am fairly insulted by AARP reaching out on this thread and pushing us to use other gift cards.  I like other cruise lines, but the cards being offered (by Celebrity Cruises for example) are ONLY able to be used for NEW reservations, and cannot be applied to an existing reservation NOR for any onboard spending.  The matter at hand, is that many of us have joined AARP solely to obtain Princess Gift Cards.  This reward has been removed, and we are voicing our displeasure.  Please do not minimize our frustration.  It would have been nice for AARP to let everyone know that this reward would be leaving.  Was that really too much to ask?

I also have no plan to renew my membership to AARP.

According to the Princess head office, the decision to pull the gift cards was AARP, not Princess.  Someone needs to get their facts straight.

I haven't found any of the perks on this site near my location. Not one thing. The only "value" I have been able to find was the discounted Princess cards. I used to get them at 10% off and they were available to everybody - member or not. Then they dropped to an 8% discount. Then they were for members only. Now they are gone and I can find no reason to renew my membership.

Thank you for your membership, @RobinB483473. I can understand how you feel about the Princess gift cards leaving the AARP Rewards Program. For details, please check our article: https://aarp.info/3kpryji - Diana G.

@AARPCustomerCare @AARP According to the Princess head office (I reached out to the President and Customer Relations people, and got a call back just this morning), this was not a Princess decision, but rather an AARP decision.  So, maybe the line in the article you point to which currently says "Princess Cruise Line no longer offers discounted gift cards through the AARP Rewards program" should be changed to "AARP Rewards program no longer offers discounted Princess Cruise Line gift cards".   Both you and Princess can't be right on this one.

Very disjoint aarp has chosen to discontinue offering Pringers cruise gift cards. Not sure if this is an AI answering but you don't get it. We ask are interested in Princess cruises not the others. It is appalling to loyal members to mention other cruise lines and travel choices available.  Please get this fixed or you will continue to lose potential new members and lose existing members.

No, you don’t “totally understand.” What you don’t “totally understand” is that while you say Princess won’t issue the cards, Princess says they will, so one of you is playing us for fools. And since these cards are available on other sites (I just bought one), guess who looks guilty. We are senior citizens; we are not idiots.

That is NOT the story that Princess's head office has relayed.  They say that the decision to stop selling Princess gift cards was an AARP decision.  Maybe they aren't telling the truth, or maybe the AARP folks are misinformed.  All I know is that one side or the other isn't being totally honest.

It’s infuriating when you keep repeating this without addressing the cause of our confusion. We are hearing that Princess says the cards ARE available. We are angry and confused. Your corporate doublespeak only makes us more angry. I’ve already cancelled my renewal. If I wanted to hear someone avoiding an issue, I’d rewatch the presidential debate.

"Princess Cruise Lines discounts are no longer offered by the brand."

Please double check what you wrote.  Discounted Princess gift cards are still being offered on Newegg, so it appears that Princess is still offering discounted cards.  I was able to purchase the same ecards from Newegg at the same discount that I used to get from AARP.   Somebody in AARP management needs to address this loss of a valued membership benefit.  AARP is getting slammed for this on other web sites.  People are angry that AARP required Princess gift card purchasers to become members and then pulled the rug out from under them by discontinuing the cards after getting many Princess customers to pay fees to AARP.

Unlike when AARP would offer the discounted Princess cards until the supply runs out and they would wait for a new order, Newegg will discount particular denominations of Princess cards for only a few hours as popup sales.  Otherwise, the cards are only offered at par.  When they announce a sale on the cards, they will post a discount code to put in at checkout.  I know it's not as convenient as when AARP was offering the cards, but at this point, it may be the only game in town.  I don't know how to do it, but there is a way to put in a request for emails when each particular denomination goes on sale and usually the sale only lasts for hours.  I am seeing on another website where others are successfully purchasing discounted Princess gift cards from Newegg, and I was personally able to make a purchase of discounted $500 Princess cards from them.  You just need to hit it at the right time.  I'd rather continue getting my discount cards through AARP Rewards, but AARP isn't making them available right now.  Let's hope they solve their issue with Princess.  Until then, we need to keep an eye out for the Newegg popup sales.

According to Princess's head office, they did not make the decision to not offer gift cards through AARP anymore.  They indicated that this was AARP's decision.

THERE ARE NO DETAILS IN THE ARTICLE. NO REASON WHY IS LISTED. MANY OF US JOINED AARP FOR THIS EXACT DISCOUNT/BENEFIT. CRUISE HAS BERN BOOKED.

Because Princess Cruises pulled the program. It's up to the cruise partner to participate in the program, Princess opted out.

Not according to Princess.  I reached out to the President and Customer Relations folks via email, and just got a call this morning back from the head office indicating that it was NOT a Princess head office decision.
