AARP and Hartford Insurance

Hello,

I would like AARP to reconsider using AARP for you members to use. I was happy with them for 5 years then all of a sudden, my premium went up $600+ for the year.
I thought Hartford was supposed to benefit seniors. I was with them for 5 years, perfect driving record, no tickets and a stellar credit score.
They couldn't give me a reason why it went up so much and even the agent I spoke to said it was a substantial increase.
I found it unacceptable and dropped them.

AARP might want to reconsider their relationship with Hartford if they are doing that you your members.

Feel free to reach out to me if you'd like more information.

Thank you

The same happened with me starting with the New Year 2025. I too dropped them. Want angers me is AARP, I thought, was here to protect us, but instead seem to be falling into supporting Corp. GREED!  My insurance went up close to $600 dollars more to which I tried with a Hartford rep to change a few things to lower it. HA! $100 less. HA!   I went with another insurance company for the exact coverage as it was in 2024 for almost $900 less. Shame on promoting such a company that turns on those that have used them for many years.

I looked at the Hartford last year - whilst I didn't have an issue with price gouging (they weren't the cheapest for me but they weren't that far off)... I did however note that the price with using AARP or not was identical so no benefit here

Unfortunately I'm very restricted on what home insurance I can use and bundle and the Hartford doesnt insure homes over a certain value - by using State Farm versus others I essentially get car insurance for free bundling so not going to use anyone else for now

i just had my car insurance renewal quote as part of my bundle - for the first time I can remember my premium is lower (I've never been involved in an accident and never had any traffic fines)

I have found Hartford has some of the highest rates and after a few years they increase their rate to existing policy holders substantially.  I have come to realize that the products sold on AARP benefit AARP not the members.

My insurance went up $600. I have no accidents or citations. Hartford gives no explanations. I drive < 75 miles a week. AARP is an unregulated insurance agency that should be investigated by the D.C. Insurance Commissioner. AARP is not looking out for its members.

Somebody is making money at our expense.
