Social Security Benefit to Increase 2.8 Percent in 2019

Social Security benefits will increase 2.8 percent in 2019, the largest cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) in seven years. AARP Chief Executive Officer Jo Ann Jenkins said in response, โ€œThe COLA brings needed income security to those depending on their earned, modest benefits. Better than a sharp stick in the eye!  Never turn down a raise, they only come around every so often!

It's virtually useless since Medicare premiums increase at the same time.

Unless you are a higher income beneficiary or unless your income went up substantially from getting Extra Help to not getting Extra Help, the Part B premiums only went up from $134 per month to $135.50 for most everybody and that ($ 1.50 ) is far less than the 2.8% COLA for 2019.
