SSA No Longer Accepting Phone Calls

The first time I called was at 3:00 PM I was put on hold until I was disconnected at 4:00 PM the closing time.

The second time I called the recording says wait time is greater than 120 minutes,

then they say hold times are greater than normal,

then they tell me to call back at a later time,

and then they disconnect the call. This is at 9:00 AM exactly.

A year ago I went down to the local office. You take a number and wait about 1.5 hrs in a hard chair.

I have a bad back and can’t sit for long periods in a chair.

Right now I need my file, how do I obtain this information? 

Any advice is appreciated.

thanks for the reply, it says, You can schedule an appointment by calling the local Green Bay, WI Social Security office at (888) 862-4811 or by calling the Social Security Administration's toll-free number (800) 772-1213

i called the 800 number, it covers the state, maybe i should call local.

Yep try that local business number that you have for the Green Bay Field Office - I have an old list from October 2019 and that is the same number - 888 862 4811 for the Green Bay, WI field office.  I also have the local FAX number as 920 433 3873.

To get access to your Social Security file, you set up your personal mySocialSecurity account.

SSA.gov - How to create a my Social Security account 

You can NO longer just show up at the local office without an appointment.  You can no longer just call them to may changes to your file like address or bank routing info.

If you can’t do it or need help see if you can find a trusted family member or friend with tech knowledge to help you out or call your local Dept on Aging - they may have some bonded people to help with the set up of it.
