Advertisements with links to Frauds, Scams or possible malware in this forum

Our AARP Forum is continuously bombarded with folks who are newly registered with postings seemingly with 'useful information' but with hyperlinks to possible 'frauds/ scams/ spams or possible malware sites.'

Please 'do not click onto any links' of any infomercial with a link to a "solution, the cure" = possible fraud or to a malware site.

-----------------------------------------------------------

---- sign of scams -  they may talk about some medical information in the "Housing or Game Talk or Destinations' AARP forums = not in the proper forum = content is 'wrong' for forum heading.

And they are newly registered with a 'neat'  copy and paste but with a "link available = the cure, the solution, the treatment."

They may talk about some other common problems and issues and lay out a nice informative treatment or solution.

--- crypto recovery scams - I've seen twice or more here

---- Be wary of posts talking about 'cannabis' with an all too convenient link available - may lead to frauds and/ or they "just want your money by selling their goods and services"

---- Be wary of posts talking about 'Medicare / Insurance'  with long seemingly helpful information with a hyper link " to their website "  - they are a private company who have not been vetted/ verified by AARP or other entities. Will they offer free advice/ low cost fee?

🙄  Will you give them your name address, telephone, birth date and SS number? for further assistance/ consultation from them???

🙄 This still an advertisement in AARP Forum and should not allowed here.

-----check out their profile if newly registered and if they 'copy and paste' a  tale and "they have the answer, the cure , the solution" - If only you click on their link??

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

   Additionally

Be wary of newly registered users "advertising" any good or services.

Possible fraud at the end - gathering info on you personally - invading your privacy.

It's against AARP Forum policy to 'sell goods and services' here; blatant 'advertising'.

😠  The AARP Moderators need to be more 'proactive' in removing these posts - Scammers/ Spammers/ Fraudsters; this AARP  Forum is not appropriate for 'advertising of goods and services - medical and otherwise.'

Good message! Maybe AARP should limit posting access to people that have or have had an active subscription. Having to pay a few dollars will probably eliminate most of the spam.

Thank you for the helpful update @OneDayMatisyahu .

Hopefully others will post replies so this one stays 'Popular' and 'Recent' for a long time.

...Perhaps appropriately, the security challenge was ear...this one's worth listening to.
