Speaking of groups that wear masks when they play (I'm not talking about the Residents or Insane Clown Posse), these contemporary groups are really awesome. If you like Khruangbin you should check these out:

Glass Beams, a trio from Australia - instrumental https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nMuTgStG8w0

Austin TV, a band from Mexico City that's been around a long time. This is more "rock"  than is the first group. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5la4Ld3hwhI&t=536s

Both tracks are instrumentals. Glass Beams tracks sometimes use vocalizations. Both have similar explanations for why they wear masks ("it's the music, not the personalities")

Edit:  I have the impression that the masks of Austin TV bear a lot of influence from ancient cultures: Aztec, etc.

I love all sorts of Latin music and I can't believe I have never heard of "Milonga", a sort of relative to the tango. I heard this song played on a Netflix show ("The Trunk"); apparently this song was composed for the show. Interesting note, the show is Korean but this track (by Korean composer) sounds very much Latin.
