Chronicles of Ancient Wisdom (album) - Fearless on Apple Music
This is a happy accidental discovery I found on YT. They are a power metal band from Brazil, and not yet well known. The singer and co-songwriter is Dan Vasc, who has his own YT channel. He has ooodles of covers ranging from rock and metal to folk to movie and pop and even classical. He sings everything!
He self-published their first album because the deals offered by record labels were not fair to the band. It’s too bad how the music industry works. It seems you have to sell your soul to get any kind of deal these days. Hope one of the European labels will pick them up and get them going. They should be touring, big time.
@Vexed - I enjoy his channel a lot. Mondays are usually “metal Mondays”. Another good one is The Charismatic Voice, Elizabeth Zharhoff. She is an opera singer and vocal coach. Both of them became rapid fans of metal bands like Iron Maiden and Metallica. Elizabeth got really hooked on Ronnie James Dio and Ian Gillan vocals, and they became two of her favorite rockers. Just amazing to see their reactions to classic rock and metal bands.
Smith & Myers -
YouTube Channel - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCqFqX3L-nXomAjpw0-8f_fQ
Brent Smith and Zach Myers (both from Shinedown). (Always liked Brent's voice in Shinedown and "Not Strong Enough" he did with Apocalyptica)
They formed Smith & Myers doing mostly covers and mostly acoustic.
"Unchained Melody" - cover of the Righteous Brothers song - They were nervous about covering such an iconic song. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1IO1qU3ElDM
"In the Air Tonight" - cover of the Phil Collins song - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hHNHFpF_ZOg
"Bad at Love" - this was a Halsey song but they rewrote the lyrics and has a nice video.
Classic 70’s Playlist
A little bit of everything including John Lennon, George Harrison, Badfinger, Boston, Deep Purple, The Who, Scorpions, Rainbow, Blue Oyster Cult, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Aerosmith, Cheap Trick, Status Quo, Macca & Wings, Free, BTO, Three Dog Night, Edgar Winter Group, America, CSN, Albert Hammond, Pink Floyd, Queen, David Bowie
The album - Frampton Forgets the Words by Peter Frampton Band
Frampton was diagnosed with Inclusion Body Myositis in 2019. This songs on this album are instrumental. He wanted to do some of his favorite pieces from collaboration memories and tribute/covers to other's works. He said he didn't want to sing on these because his guitar has a better voice.
All are great. The "Isn't it a Pity" original George Harrison was beautiful. The video showed some clips from Frampton during covid lockdown.
"Loving the Alien" - original by David Bowie whom he worked with a lot was a remarkable rendition, video with clips from their days together.
Frampton did quite a bit of things after his diagnosis knowing that his body would be letting him down.
Bella Ciao - d’Artagnan
This is an Italian folk song being sung by a German band with a French name which was recently popularized by a Spanish tv show (Money Heist, Netflix). This version is sung in German, but they also do Italian and English. The title is literally Beautiful Goodbye. While the melody is probably 19th century, the lyrics were written and sung by Italian partisans during the Nazi occupation of Northern Italy. It is about a fight for liberty to the death.
Music is truly the universal language!
"If This Is The End (The Sound of Belief)" - Their drummer, Johnny Venus, was diagnosed with leukemia in 2012. This is a touching song about the emotions and the hopes of those fighting cancer. Moon (Philip Sneed) has a great voice.
"Top of the World" - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=udrDshXdC4Q
"Doesn't Matter Anyway" - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x1Co8r9nHto
"Abandon Ship" - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J_5HU7GhqOA
Christmas Christmas 🎄- Cheap Trick (album,2017 on Apple Music)

I just love this band! They are so much fun to listen to, and play good ole rock n roll music. Most of these are covers, but four songs are their own comps.
