Almost anything by Hank Williams. No less than Elvis Presley called I'm So Lonesome I could Cry, the saddest song he had ever heard. Its just the sights and sounds from his back yard but it packs a punch. But don't forget These Men With Broken Hearts, or May You Never Be Alone Like Me, or Lost on the River, Long Gone Lonesome Blues and many more.
Lefty Frizzell fell into a depressive hole and with his song writing partner Sanger Shaffer wrote "I Never Go Around Mirrors" It has been said that this song could bring a tear to a statue, especially when Keith Whitley sang it. This was Whitley's favorite country song and he would sing it at the drop of a hat.

@RossM846371 - Have you heard this version of I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry, by Gary Morris? It gets me every time. 😭😭😭 A lot of people have covered this song, but no one sings it like he does.

Forever Yours - Nightwish
My time is yet to come
So I’ll be forever yours
There are two possible meanings to this song. One is losing the love of your life, and having to carry on without them. But the overall theme of the album is about loss of childhood, loss of innocence, missing home, the love of parents and family; then going out into a cruel world wondering if he will ever find love, or if his music and poetry will be rejected.
The music in this album is magnificent, but it does have a dark theme.

Me and Bobbie Magee.. Its a story of loss but at the same time it cheers me.. He traveled with the love of his life and eventually lost her. He actually loved her enough to let her go and hope that she somehow found what she was looking for. He didn't lament what he had lost, but more celebrated what he had enjoyed with her and the enrichment she had brought to his life. Proof of sorts that,if we keep our eyes and hearts open, that we can be sad but happy for the same reasons. Great song..
