""Hope I die before I get old," sang 21-year-old Roger Daltrey in 1965—and 43 years later, he's still singing it. Rock 'n' roll has always been invested in a Byronic cult of blazing youth and beautiful corpses. But as tyros have turned into reunion-tour warhorses, rockers have had to come to terms with the ironies—and the indignities and the glories—of old age."
What are the songs that talk about getting older, looking back, etc?
Joe Walsh: Life's Been Good to Me (so far!)
Delta Dawn - Helen Reddy
Old Man-Neil Young
When I'm 64.
The Long and Winding Road - Beatles
When I'm 64.
I did it MY WAY Frank Sinatra and Elvis
Through the Years Kenny Rogers
Classics IV; Traces (Souveniers of times together)
Marty Robbins; Amoung My Souveniers
Marty Robbins; Some Memories Just Won't Die

Ozzy Osborne; Dreamer

Les Cowboys Fringants; Toune d'Automne (Forgive me. I have no idea what this song is about. All I know is that it's a Tune Of Autumn (of life?). Maybe somebody can translate it for me. I love the music.)

"Time" by Pink Floyd.
Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day.
Fritter and waste the hours in an offhand way.
Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town.
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way.
Tired of lying in the sunshine staying home to watch the rain.
You are young and life is long and there is time to kill today.
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you.
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun.
When you run and you run to catch up with the sun, but it's sinking;
Racing around to come up behind you again.
The sun is the same in a relative way that you're older.
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death.
Every year is getting shorter; never seem to find the time.
Plans that either come to naught or half a page of scribbled lines.
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way.
The time is gone, the song is over,
Thought I'd something more to say.
U2 The Troubles
Mary Hopkin; Those Were the Days
I just cannot let this one go unmentioned:
Marmalade; Reflections Of My Life
"When I'm Sixty-Four" by the Beatles
U2 Knocking On Heaven's Door

Has anyone mentioned "Landslide" by Stevie Nicks yet or "When I'm 64" by The Beatles? Those were the first ones to come to mind. ![]()

Living on Love ---- not sure who the author is, but it is Country Western
The singer would be Alan Jackson. Love that song. Typifies how with love present, growing old with some one you love isn't near as bad as it could be.

I remember my dad singing When your old wedding ring was new!
Young at Heart by Frank Sinatra beacause that's how I feel. However, a close second is the Beatle's song "When I'm 64" because it's so funny, even though I'd have to think back a long way to remember being 64!
Like a rock - Bob Seeger
A VERY old song: "Silver Threads Among the Gold".
