The Songs About Getting Older

""Hope I die before I get old," sang 21-year-old Roger Daltrey in 1965—and 43 years later, he's still singing it. Rock 'n' roll has always been invested in a Byronic cult of blazing youth and beautiful corpses. But as tyros have turned into reunion-tour warhorses, rockers have had to come to terms with the ironies—and the indignities and the glories—of old age."

What are the songs that talk about getting older, looking back, etc?

Old man , look at my life;

I'm a lot like you were.

That song really lays it on the line.......

Now here's a strange duet.   Elton John  &  Leon Russell

"Never To Old, (To Hold Somebdy)" .

But strange has a  way of working out great.  Two top

talents sharing the tune together.

And speaking of great tunes,  most people don't know that

Leon Russell was a top writter of songs that were sung by

others.  Two songs by  The Carpenter's stick in my mind.

'A Song For You",   And the awesome  "Superstar" ..

Both of those songs were recorder by many other legends.

But I have a big place in my heart for  The Carpenter's......

Karen's voice was so beautiful.  What a shame to have lost

her at such an early age.   😞

Now you know why they are called

" O L D I E S       B U T      G O O D I E S"

But trust me on this one, you are not alone...

But now for another gettin' older tune.

Put a dime in the juke box please.

"A Priate Looks At Forty"        by Jimmy Buffett

Much to a suprise, Jimmy started out playing

country music.  Then he arrived in the Florida

Keys.  The rest is history, not to mention another

margarita, please and thank you

That reminds me of a saying,  "I don't want to be a 'grown up',

Have you even seen grownups.  They have problems.  I don't

want to have problems".

Darkness    by    Leonald Cohen

Leonard passed away in Dec.2016.  He leaves behind many

songs that were copied  (or covered) by other artist.

His most popular song was "Hallelujah" to be coverd.

I have heard it many time on American Idol, The X Factor,

and The Voice.  It's on my top ten list of the greatest songs

I know.  Not an easy list to compile.....

RIP

Just latched on to "Darkness" myself fairly recently when listening to probably his last album.  Most famous song BEFORE "Hallelujah" was, perhaps, Suzanne.  Quite an artist who shall be missed!
