GREAT COVERS OF YOUR FAVORITE SONGS

For many an original song that they love cannot and will not ever be duplicated by a cover, but there are many songs that have been done equally (debatebly) well by others..

So do you have favorites?

What are your favorite covers of favorite songs?

Viva la Vida - Coldplay cover by Italian Artists. Due to the state of things, each of them is in their own studio.

@TheGent2U  - Awesome covers by Italian Artists, really great arrangements. I especially liked the way they used the instruments on Africa. They're a very talented group of young musicians.

I'm adding this one, also. It's my favorite Beatles song. It was also made during quarantine. If they can do this from home, imagine what they'd be together in the studio.

Brook Benton’s cover of Los Pop Top’s “Oh Lord, Why Lord”. Both excellent in their respective versions of the song.

Dust In The Wind  -  Kansas cover by Scorpions

This is from their live cd / dvd Acoustica. It was their first project with arrangements for acoustic instruments. I love the way that they utilize all of the instruments, and feature the cello in this one. The band is tight and the sound is full. The entire concert is a masterpiece!

The Scorps really put their 'sting' on this one.   🦂

If you're gonna cover The Stones, this is the way to do it.

Sweet Jane - Cowboy Junkies. I prefer Jim Carroll's cover, but Lou Reed apparently was quoted as saying this was his favorite cover.

In retrospect, this cover is both sad and 💔.  But it was a great cover of a great artist by another great artist. May they both RIP.

Carolina in My Mind - John Denver. A bit more raw than James Taylor's. Once John's struggles became known, I went back and listened to his albums. I think there were hints, all along, in the music he put out. This is from his second solo album.
