On McCartney 3,2,1: It was interesting to hear Paul explain how this song evolved. John had lifted the first line from a Chuck Berry song (not unusual in those days). But when he played it for Paul , he was also using the same rhythm and style, so it sounded very much like Chuck Berry's song. Paul told him that we need to get away from that. That's when he came up with the opening bass notes and new rhythm. It changed the whole character of the song which was a better fit for John's amazing lyrics. This has always been my favorite Beatle "fun" song.
