(1/13/23) Yes it does and every week when I get "quiet" - I notice in what way. This is day #13 in 2023 and YESTERDAY I "finally" do not let "ghosting" bother me. Lol, spent all my life feeling REJECTED. It took being "ghosted" on this site by a few members, to realize I was NOT the usual BASKET CASE of "emotions"... Yes, "helped" them out, gone with no thank you or see you./lol πŸ˜‚πŸ€£

(1/11/23) Oh yes!!! Usually when I relocate, I just pack up and go. BUT this time, I will need to make sure I have my Social Security and Medicare set up. HOPING to move back to Florida this year 2023 or next year 2024. Now some nights when my neighbor from hell feels a need to keep me up EVERY night during my DESIRED "bedtime" of 11pm to 6am - I am tempted to jump in my car and drive to Florida. BUT the "old woman" surfaces and I am hanging in there until Florida Rental House Prices go down. πŸ™„ NO MORE APTS FOR ME. Lol, hopefully before I die here in Virginia. πŸ˜‚πŸ€£

(1/8/23) My Retirement Wisdom for TODAY - listening to the AARP moderator's words of wisdom. πŸ‘Œ Lol, I now know to "walk away" let folks do their thing WITHOUT it becoming TOXIC for me! See, we are NEVER too "old" to learn wisdom from others. πŸ™‚

(1/4/23) Today's retirement wisdom for me! It is all about the "quality" of life as I age. Sometimes "less" brings more peace and joy into your life πŸ™‚

(1/3/23) My Retirement Wisdom - people come into your life for a "reason and a season" - some stay your entire life, some leave after they have served their reason. I spent way too many years "running" after folks and feeling "rejected" in the process. NO MORE πŸ™‚ I now "let them go" understanding their PURPOSE in my life! To "protect" my INSIDES, I "change" my behavior towards them IF they have to go. NO hard feelings my "online" friend, and you know who you are. πŸ˜‰ Thank you for your support for the "brief" time we have known each other. But MOVING FORWARD, I will be "polite" = that "door" to my insides has been closed. πŸ€ŽπŸ€—

(Monday - 1/2/23) My Retirement "wisdom" = pick your battles and walk away from the rest. Lol, after living in my cute Studio Apt since August 2018 (Cave Spring, Virginia) - this "wisdom" clicked in last month (December 2022). Now to FOCUS on moving BACK into a small rental cottage in Melbourne, Florida BEFORE I go to jail for strangling my Neighbors From Hell. /lol πŸ˜‚πŸ€£

(Saturday - 12/31/22) Oh yes it does for me. As I "reflect" on this year 2022, I am so PROUD of the progress I have made since retiring in July 2020 due to COVID. 1st year (2020) was filled with anger due to that "extra" weekly income I lost. 2nd year (2021) Lol, I had "calmed" down. 3rd year (this year 2022) "walked away" from stuff I no longer ENJOY OR NEED πŸ™„ and looking forward to what 2023 has for me. What about you? πŸ€”

(12/27/22) Lol, I NO longer "chase" after folks online or in real life to be in my life. πŸ˜‰ I move on and live my life with PASSION where I am WELCOMED. Wasted "too many" years and energy when I was a YOUNGSTER./lol πŸ€£πŸ˜‚So glad I am OLD = wiser. Nicole πŸ™‚

(12/3/22) πŸ’‘.I have finally learnt to STOP knocking on CLOSED doors and ENTER doors that are OPEN.

.

Every day I see post after post about the "glitches" on this website that either cannot be fixed or AARP refuses to fix.

.

When I get tired of fighting with it (not quite there as yet), I will leave.

.

So NOT wasting my TIME AND ENERGY posting about my anger against AARP.

.

Just my 2 cents of Retirement Wisdom I wish I had years ago. Spent way too much time and energy on stuff instead of WALKING AWAY. πŸ˜‰

@Anonymous  I would say there is more wisdom with age, due to the large number of experiences we have accumulated as we have grown older, not necessarily because we have retired.

Great question @Anonymous

I MIGHT have gotten wiser, maybe. I'm quicker to get rid of things that I haven't used in a year or longer, and faster at throwing out food when it's still edible but I know I won't eat it.

I'm better at being non-reactive over various perceived stupidities as I get older altho social injustices can still get me going. I'm better at ignoring slights, not even framing others' behaviors that way very much any more (altho various hostile actions do still provoke flaming rhetoric -- the wisdom piece being that I don't blast back as often). I 'm increasingly better at trying to maintain the inner peace of staying in a "not worth my energy" mindset.

I used to be afflicted with the "I'm sure I'll want this later" syndrome -- food, clothes, potentially useful things I never used, hotel toiletries, cords for things I'd forgotten what they went to (she said in mangled English), books I couldn't remember buying much less wanting or reading, craft supplies that dried up before they got opened, etc.

While I might still have a package of frozen veggies with stage 4 frostbite good now only for using on a sprained ankle or something of the sort, I had to get rid of all the detritus of life to make room for the living. LOL

Lol @DeahWA so you use to be a hoarder πŸ€£πŸ˜‚ Me too. Dollar Tree is my weakness. I see things I got to have because everything is just $1. Working on making a LIST and STICKING to it. Hmmm, I need to attend Shoppers Anonymous πŸ€£πŸ˜‚

Oh @Anonymous it wasn't quite that bad. I wouldn't have qualified for that hoarders tv show. LOL πŸ˜†

My retirement wisdom was being smart enough 8 years ago to get out of the toxic work environment the first chance I got! The same day that I turned 55, after over 30 years of service, I left for happier days. Wisest decision that I ever made. Now my wisdom is in being the best husband to my wife and the best dad and grampy that I can be for my kids and grandkids with the free time that I have.

  • I say YES for me.
  • Since RETIRING last year July (2020) - see my list of wisdom below/lol.

  1. I have learn't to luv myself enough to set PERSONAL BOUNDARIES.
  2. Not run after folks to be in my life.
  3. Letting go of folks that need to exit my life.
  4. Welcoming NEW seasons into my life while saying good-bye to my PAST.
  5. Now totally PASSIONATE about my life and the things I am destined for πŸ˜‰
